Whatever the Witness has done to the Traveler in Destiny 2 remains to be seen, and any attempts to follow the Witness result in death. However, Destiny 2 provides players with a break from the mysteries of Lightfall’s story and instead allows players to put aside their weaponry and arm themselves with bait and a fishing rod.

Players can go fishing in Destiny 2 as of Season 21. Season of the Deep sees some great new weapons and will allow players to go fishing on Savathun’s Throne World, Nessus, and the EDZ. Each location is brimming with fish, and there are 10 Legendary fish and 4 Exotic fish in Destiny 2.

14 Kheprian Axehead

Kheprian Axehead in the helm aquarium

The most efficient way to get the Exotic fish in Destiny 2 is to unlock Focused Fishing. With this meter full, all Guardians that are at the fishing pool will see a rise in the quality of fish they can catch, meaning although an Exotic fish is not guaranteed, it is more likely than an empty fishing pool that does not have the Focused Fishing meter fully utilized.

One of the Exotic fish in Destiny 2 so far is the Kheprian Axehead, a fish that certainly looks the part for its namesake. The Kheprian Axehead is perhaps the rarest fish in the game and can be exchanged at the HELM for an Exotic reward, as well as bragging rights for catching this fish.

13 Aeonian Alpha-Betta

warlock fishing in nessus

One of the Exotic fish that players will be able to find in Destiny 2 is the Aeonian Alpha-Betta. The fish has yet to make the rounds in Destiny 2, and it’s an Exotic for a reason thanks to the difficulty and rarity in obtaining it.

Visually, Aeonian Alpha-Betta is a beautiful fish, with elegant and tropical colors. The patterns on the fish are remarkable, and the fins are far larger than even the body of the fish.

12 Whispering Mothcarp

hunter fishing in the edz at noon

Strangely, the Whispering Mothcarp looks a lot like the Dopefish as seen in DOOM Eternal. This comes from the fact that it has wide and beady orange eyes that pierce the soul, as well as vibrant green skin.

The Whispering Mothcarp is one of the larger Exotic fish in the game, and equally as rare. Players have not yet obtained a Whispering Mothcarp for their aquarium, but it will certainly be a show stealer when they do.

11 Vexing Placoderm

warlock season of the deep armor fishing in the edz

The Vexing Placoderm has been infected by the nature of the Vex. Whether it’s because it's been tested on, or swimming in too much Vex radiolaria, the Vexing Placoderm is distinct for its infested head.

The head of the Vexing Placoderm looks like it has been assimilated, with its face altered by Vex biology. It’s an interesting Exotic, that further shows the dangers that the Vex have over life and alterations of nature.

10 Drangelfish (Baroque)

edz fishing location

The Drangelfish (Baroque) is found exclusively in the EDZ. This fish is noted for its tropical colors of pink and yellow, and it’s a difficult fish to catch, like most Legendary fish. The fishing spot for the Drangelfish Baroque will be located in the Outskirts of the EDZ.

The Drangelfish Baroque may not be a real fish, so it adds to the mystery of how this fish came to be, especially when it shares its name with the Eliksni ‘Drang’ enemy type, so perhaps its formation is the result of spilled Ether.

9 Salvager’s Salmon

savathun's throne world fishing location

In the EDZ and Savathun’s Throne World, players have the opportunity to catch Salvager’s Salmon. How a Salmon managed to make its way to the Throne World is unknown, but this tasty fish is perfect for sushi dishes, that is, if players want to risk eating anything from The Witch Queen’s world.

The Salvager’s Salmon is noted for its scaley orange skin and large size. It’s a fish that closely resembles a time before the Darkness, Hive Gods, Cabal, and all the other torments that face humanity in Destiny 2.

8 Gnawing Hun Gar

savathun's throne world fishing spot

Exclusively on the Throne World, players will be able to fish for the Gnawing Hun Gar. This fish has a namesake about the famed Destiny 2 Auto Rifle, Gnawing Hunger, an old Gambit Auto Rifle from Season of Arrivals that has yet to return to the loot pool of Destiny 2.

Hopefully with the Gnawing Hun Gar fish, the famed Auto Rifle is due for a comeback, although it begs the question of how the Gnawing Hun Gar received its namesake, and what is it doing on the Throne World.

7 No Turning Jack

nessus fishing spot

The No Turning Jack fish can only be found on Nessus, so avoid Vex and enemy Cabal to enjoy this location. This legendary fish is another reference to a weapon in Destiny 2, that is one of the first and best bows in the game from the Forsaken era called No Turning Back.

Although this Combat Bow may not be the best that players have available to them, it’s nice to see the weapon referenced with the No Turning Jack fish.

6 Cod Duello

hunter fishing in nessus

Another Nessus exclusive fish is the Cod Duello, a stark green fish that somehow hasn’t been assimilated into the Vex, despite swimming within the electrified vex milk pools that surround Nessus. Despite the confusion around its origin, the Cod Duello’s name is what sells it the most.

This legendary fish in Destiny 2 has the name Code Duello, a legendary Rocket Launcher introduced in Season 13’s Season of the Chosen. This Rocket Launcher held its own as one of the best Rocket Launchers in Destiny 2, and now its legacy is as a Nessus fish.

5 Temptation’s Haddock

nessus fishing location

The Temptation’s Haddock legendary fish receives its most fitting tribute, as this fish is about Temptation’s Hook, a Season of Arrivals sword that once saw the mighty Power Weapon at the height of the meta in PvE content. Those days have long passed, and now, Temptation’s Haddock is all that remains.

This legendary fish is located only on Nessus, and players have the chance to catch it to obtain further Triumphs and loot, as long as the player has the patience to be a fisher-Guardian.

4 Ignition Toad

guardian fishing spot

Nessus and the Throne World is where players can find the Ignition Toad. It’s different from a fish, but equally as striking. It’s great to see a toad feature in Destiny 2, considering how much the internet oddly adores frogs and toads. Even the name of the Ignition Toad is a reference.

Season of the Splicer saw the arrival of Ignition Code, a Grenade Launcher that now has its name seen as a pun for the Ignition Toad. This legendary Grenade Launcher is now locked behind its seasonal activities.

3 Deafening Whisker

Alien Wildlife found on Throne World in Destiny 2

When hunting for all Throne World fish, players will hopefully have the RNG gods on their side as they hunt for the Deafening Whisker, a node to an old Grenade Launcher.

This fish sees its name come from Season of the Hunt’s Deafening Whisper Grenade Launcher, and although players cannot get this weapon, they can certainly get this fish.

2 Servant Lobster

edz fishing spot in destiny 2

The Servant Lobster can be found on the EDZ and the Throne World. This crustacean has a unique color similar to the Hive, with glowing green legs and claws.

Players might recognize the name of the Servant Lobster, as it’s an ode to the old Season of the Lost Scout Rifle, Servant Leader.

1 Galliard Trevally

fishing in the edz alone

Nessus and the EDZ see the appearance of the Legendary Galliard Trevally fish, a tropical green and shiny fish with black stripes.

The Galliard Trevally could be a reference to the Destiny 2 weapon, Galliard-42, a classic Legendary Auto Rifle that has not seen the light of day for quite some time.
