Bungie generated lots of engagement with Destiny 2's expansion Beyond Light. From a grandiose Raid in Europa's orbit to the return of the infamous Uldren Sov, the game has found many ways to surprise the fanbase. Now that the holiday event is underway, players are scouring for resources to complete their seasonal quests. Here's how to obtain each Dawning ingredient.

The Dawning arrives mid-December every year, decorating the social spaces, presenting limited time challenges and lots of cosmetics to chase. This year is similar to the last as the Dawning's main attraction is once again baking treats for Destiny 2's various characters and delivering them for rewards.

Updated December 16, 2023, by Marc Santos: This guide has been updated to include a more accurate list of rare ingredients as well as some insights on how to get Perfect Taste and Personal Touch.

Weaponcrafting in Destiny 2 is free for everyone, though accessing this mechanic can be a little confusing for new players. Here's how to do it.

Destiny 2 Dawning Ingredients List

Every ingredient collected is stored inside "Eva's Holiday Oven 2.0" under the Quest tab. This is the seasonal container item used to craft every treat. It has a slot for Common ingredients, Rare ingredients, and Essence of Dawning, a currency that can be earned from completing any activity and/or from Eva Levante's bounties.

season of the hunt

The Common ingredients all come from defeating certain types of enemies anywhere in the system. They are not a guaranteed drop, and players may use any means to kill the specified enemy type:

  • Vex Milk: Kill Vex
  • Ether Cane: Kill Fallen
  • Cabal Oil: Kill Cabal
  • Chitin Powder: Kill Hive
  • Taken Butter: Kill Taken
  • Dark Ether Cane: Kill Scorn

Rare ingredients take a bit more effort and are harder to find. However, all ingredient drops are purely based on luck, so players should not be alarmed if they cannot obtain a certain one when first starting their hunt:

  • Delicious Explosion: Explosive kills (Grenades, Rocket Launchers, Grenade Launchers)
  • Sharp Flavor: Powered Sword kills
  • Impossible Heat: Solar kills (Solar weapons, Solar subclasses)
  • Electric Flavor: Arc kills (Arc weapons, Arc subclasses)
  • Null Taste: Void kills (Void weapons, Void subclasses)
  • Flash of Inspiration: Generate Orbs of Power (Weapon and Artifact mods, Super abilities)
  • Personal Touch: Powered Melee kills (Abilities)
  • Perfect Taste: Kills with precision final blows
  • Bullet Spray: Full-auto weapon kills (Submachine Guns, Auto Rifles, Machine Guns)
  • Finishing Touch: Kills with finishers
  • Balanced Flavors: Kills with long range weapons (Sniper Rifles, Scout Rifles, Pulse Rifles, Bows)
  • Pinch of Light: Pick up Orbs of Power
  • Multifaceted Flavors: Get multikills
  • Superb Texture:Kills with Super abilities

Be careful with what gear and abilities you use when farming ingredients, as certain perks and effects might prevent you from meeting their requirements. Explosive Payload, for example, might interfere with Perfect Taste and its precision kill requirement. It's hard to tell if Explosive Payload does prevent Perfect Taste from dropping, but given how low the drop rate is for this ingredient, it's best to eliminate all possible sources of doubt.

Personal Touch will work on normal melee attacks empowered by abilities like the Titan's Knockout, making this the fastest class to farm this ingredient, alongside Arc Hunter with Combination Blow. Warlocks can farm Personal Touch reasonably quickly by using Heat Rises to quickly regain melee energy.

Lost Sectors are recommended for players who want to farm specific ingredients. They contain lots of enemies and can be completed and reset quickly. Players will need to craft a treat once to unlock its recipe permanently. Obtaining all recipes will Masterwork the Oven, reducing the crafting price of future treats.
