Destiny 2 has changed a lot thanks to its seasonal model, which also became a creative outlet for Bungie to experiment with different quests and weapon designs. An example of this comes from Season of the Chosen's secret Exotic mission, called Presage, which was widely praised by the community as one of the best quests in the game, and it even reignited the passion for Destiny 2 for those who had lost it. Adding Exotics through story missions that are deeply interconnected with a Season's narrative is a quite compelling way to create more content both ways, and it has worked wonders for the game thus far.

There have been other great Exotics introduced this way, like Hawkmoon and Ruinous Effigy, while others were included in other forms of content introduced in a specific Season, like Vex Mythoclast with the Vault of Glass Raid. Destiny 2's Season of the Lost also hinted at a new Exotic from the very first week of its calendar, one that is both tied to how the story of Mara and Uldren Sov, now Crow, intertwines with the changes to the weapon sandbox and the introduction of Kinetic Stasis guns. This weapon is called Ager's Sceptre, and it is a Stasis trace rifle obtainable starting today.

Ager's Sceptre seems like a very solid weapon for PVE and PVP alike, making kills slow and then freeze nearby enemies thanks to its Stasis element. As customary with all new Exotic guns, Ager's Sceptre will also have a catalyst, and while the slot is currently already there, the catalyst itself won't be dropping this week. The news comes from Bungie's official Destiny 2 Twitter account, so no mistakes can be made here.

In its most recent tweet, Bungie stated that the catalyst for Ager's Sceptre will indeed be dropping starting next week on reset, so on September 21. It will not be a random drop from Strikes, as most older catalysts are, but instead, it will be tied to the current seasonal activity by the name of Astral Alignment. This will likely mean that Destiny 2 will see a spike in Astral Alignment's popularity, and that's because having a catalyst on Exotic weapons means they get extra perks and also generate Orbs of Power.

Some Exotics become insanely more powerful and easy to use, such as Deathbringer, which allowed a Gambit player to deny 60 Motes to the enemy team with a single shot. As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise if the catalyst for Ager's Sceptre will make the weapon much stronger, and that's probably the plan.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
