Destiny’s Vault of Glass raid returning to Destiny 2 has sparked more interest in the original Vault of Glass in Destiny. Guardians have been jumping back into the original Vault of Glass to relive old memories and possibly find new experiences. One group of players thought they might have found the fabled seventh chest in the Vault of Glass.

Breaking out of the original Vault of Glass map in Destiny, some Guardians found a chest way out in the distance. This sparked speculation that the chest was the fabled seventh chest in the Vault of Glass. The fireteam took to Reddit to post their findings, seeking further information from the Destiny community.

Reddit user Xeumz, posted their findings as a YouTube video, noting that they stumbled upon this chest that was out of the game space in the original Vault of Glass, near the patrol spawn location. In the video, the Fireteam uses some sparrow glitches to get out of bounds, making their way towards the chest. The chest in question just floats in the air, not visually supported by anything.

The chest drops Ascendant Energy, proving it is a raid chest, but which chest is it? After posting the YouTube clip to Reddit, it was determined that the chest is actually the chest found on the way to the Templar. Since Xeumz, and their Fireteam, did not reach the chest correctly, Destiny did not load the geometry or textures. This means that the chest is persistent across loading zones, but the lack of geometry and texture means the chest will appear to float in place.

Guardians have been breaking the boundaries of where they can go in both Destiny and Destiny 2. However, breaking out of bounds has never been required to find a hidden chest, which was a sign that this was not the seventh Vault of Glass chest. While this chest turned out not to be the fabled seventh chest, it is still interesting to learn more about how Destiny was created, and this interaction gives Guardians a glimpse into the background that makes Destiny.

While this discovery was made in the original Destiny version of Vault of Glass, Destiny 2’s Vault of Glass has different secret chests and has been remade for Destiny 2, so this is likely not possible in the Destiny 2 version of the raid. With that said, Guardians are creative, game-breaking, light-wielders who never cease to amaze with how they break the game’s boundaries.
