With the arrival of a new generation of consoles comes a new generation of games. And while the celebratory launch of the PlayStation 5 has brought plenty of new games for fans to play, one of the most anticipated titles is a remake of a 2009 classic, Demon's Souls.

The remake of Demon's Souls, developed by Bluepoint Games, takes the classic action role-playing title into the next generation with better graphics than ever before and a gorgeous 60fps to fully immerse players into the world of Demon's Souls. However, the tough as nails gameplay and the moderately confusing starting classes might be a bit daunting to new players.

The first hour of Demon's Souls is designed to kill the player early on in order to introduce them to The Nexus, or main hub, of the game. And while the rest of the game isn't any easier, there are ways to avoid dying so quickly early on by choosing a class that makes the game a bit easier. There are 10 classes in total; Barbarian, Hunter, Knight, Magician, Priest, Royalty, Solider, Temple Knight, Thief, and Wanderer, each with their own starting weapons and armor, as well as certain abilities. Choosing the right one might seem like a bit of a task, but keep in mind that players will be able to raise their characters stats however they see fit, so don't stress to much over it.

There are a few classes that will make the game relatively easier: Temple Knight, Royalty, and Knight. Temple Knight provides players with a tanky build and a long reach weapon to keep foes at bay, while Royalty gives them a great starting projectile spell to take out enemies from afar. The Knight is a very basic melee character with a decent starting sword and armor set which will force players to learn the mechanics of the game without having to pull their hair out in frustration. There's a weapon guide as well if these starting weapons don't suit the gameplay fans are looking for

Overall, those three classes will give new players a fighting chance in the beginning while they work out in the inner mechanisms Demon's Souls has to offer, but it should be kept in mind that there is no truly "best" class or even an easy way out here. The series is notoriously tough, sometimes divisively so, even extending to the devs expressing their lack of interest in difficulty options.

Players are going to have to rely on their own skills and wits if they wish to tackle the various bosses and enemies within the highly rated Demon's Souls remake, but perseverance and patience are key. Take a deep breath, attack only when an enemy is open, and don't let death discourage progress.

Demon's Souls is available now on PS5.
