The Demon Slayer manga’s Swordsmith Village Arc will be getting an anime adaptation. An announcement was made following the conclusion of the anime’s Entertainment District Arc on Sunday.

Most of the Entertainment District Arc’s staff will be returning for the upcoming anime adaptation, most notably director Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the X,Tales of Symphonia: The Animation), and character designer and chief animation director Akira Matsushima (Samurai X: Reflection, Maria Watches Over Us). Ufotable will once again animate the series, with the main cast all returning for the new arc.

Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 2016 to 2020, amassing 23 collected volumes. Gotouge has earned a number of awards for the series, most recently winning the Japan Cartoonists Association Award and Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.

A 26-episode anime adaptation animated by ufotable premiered during the Spring 2019 season. Sotozaki directed the series, with Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina handling the music. A film adaptation of the manga’s Mugen Train Arc, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, was released in October 2020. The film became the highest-grossing film of 2020 and currently stands as both the highest-grossing anime and Japanese film of all time.

The second season of the anime premiered during the Fall 2021 season with a 7-episode adaptation of the Mugen Train Arc film. The series then moved on to the 11-episode adaptation of the manga’s Entertainment District Arc. Most of the staff and cast from the first season and film reprised their roles for season 2.

Viz Media publishes the manga series in English. The Demon Slayer anime series can be streamed on both Crunchyroll and Funimation.
