It is safe to conclude from the series so far that Muzan Kibutsuji is one of the most mysterious villains in the anime medium. He’s responsible for most of the evil that occurs on the show, without a lot of screen time to prove it. Despite this, his power and fearsomeness are undeniable, judging by the reaction his name, let alone his presence evokes in his demon disciples or anyone chanced to know of his existence.

He’s a powerful demon made confident and dreadful by his long list of abilities and unique skills. Here are some of the strongest abilities and attacks that make Muzan such a powerful villain.

This post contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga.

10 Speed

Muzan’s speed is incomparable to that of the members of the Twelve Kizuki, even with how fast they are. Demon slayers that easily overpower or at least match the pace of other demons, really struggle to keep up with Muzan or to see his attacks coming. His extremely quick decapitation of Wakuraba is just one of the many ways he has used his speed.

When he attacks, most don’t even realize what he’s done until some moments afterward. With this level of speed, he was a big challenge for even Giyu Tomioka, who suffered a lot of damage while battling him.

9 Incredible Strength

muzan's incredible strength

It’s a given that demons are generally physically stronger than the average human. But as the demon king, Muzan has strength surpassing that of the most powerful demons, like Akaza. In a display of his strength, Muzan threw a man to the wall using only his fist. The man died instantly, and his body even created cracks in the wall.

When Muzan took an infant’s form, his strength wasn’t reduced. In that body, he was still able to damage vehicles and create a significant challenge to the Hashira, Gyomei, combined with other opponents.

8 Immediate Regeneration

Regeneration is a common trait among demons, with the regeneration rate being what separates lower demons from the most powerful ones. As seen with a demon like Daki, the speed at which she regenerated body parts shocked Tanjiro Kamado in their fight during the Entertainment District Arc.

Muzan has an even faster regeneration rate that makes it look like his injuries or loss of body parts never even occurred. One of the most fascinating uses of this incredible ability is when he regenerated his head within seconds. He also regenerated his body after he suffered damage from an explosion. This level of regeneration is discouraging to any attacker because attempts at injury are mostly useless on Muzan.

7 Arm, Back, and Thigh Whips

Muzan can turn his body into a weapon, creating whips made from flesh that protrude from his arms, back, and thighs. These whips are long and flexible and armed with sharp blades. Because of the length of the whips, Muzan can use them in unpredictable ways thereby confusing and surprising his opponents.

Apart from the distance Muzan’s arm whips can reach by length alone, they can also cover more areas due to the presence of mouths on them. By sucking in air, they can pull opponents in to be torn apart.

6 Extrasensory Perception

The element of surprise plays a big part in attack strategy. Muzan has the perfect ability to both combat this when it is used against him and to take advantage of its many benefits. With extrasensory perception, Muzan can sense things close by or a far distance from him.

He uses this to find human prey, attacking when they least suspect and gaining the upper hand. In battle, opponents can’t successfully use the element of surprise because Muzan can sense their presence or whereabouts from afar, using sounds or movement.

5 Biological Absorption

As powerful as he is, Muzan also has the sponge-like ability to dissolve materials and absorb them into his body. He can use this ability to dissolve weapons that could harm him, as he did with some flesh seeds that got lodged in his skin in the Infinity Castle Arc.

After discovering Nezuko Kamado’s special ability to withstand the sun, Muzan desired the ability for himself and knew he could get it by simply eating her body and absorbing the power into his. This power makes him invincible; he can get the upgrades he desires and make his body impervious to certain attacks.

4 Blood Memory Transfer

If all else fails during a battle, Muzan has a way out to survive his dying body. He can move his blood and memories into another body to preserve himself. By doing this, he turns the new person into a demon subject to his influence. With this ability, the new host can use Muzan’s abilities as he did before the transfer.

This ability shows how Muzan always has a trick up his sleeve, and having him as an opponent can be quite the challenge because even when it looks like victory is close, he refuses to die.

3 Telepathy

In the world of Demon Slayer, being a demon has its perks: strength, immortality, and regeneration. But it also comes with some downsides, like being limited to the nighttime. Another possible downside is always being connected to Muzan.

Muzan’s telepathic powers leave other demons’ thoughts open to him just by catching sight of them. He can speak to them in their heads even when they are far from him. Although his range is somewhat limited, he can also locate them with this connection and feel what they feel.

2 Biokinesis

Muzan’s abilities as a demon begin with how his body is composed. With the power to turn his body into anything he desires, his appearance can change, and he can move his internal organs around really quickly.

He took the form of an infant and that of a woman to achieve some of his aims. He can also make weapons out of his body, like the mouth he can create with belly flesh that produces large surges of energy. He also uses this power as a protective mechanism in many interesting ways, like having multiple hearts and brains in his body.

1 Demon Manipulation

Muzan’s blood can almost be described as a Trojan Horse. Once a host takes his blood in, Muzan gains considerable power over them. First, there’s the Demon Curse, which kills any demon who mentions his last name, even if it is without malice. Then there’s the ability to subject a demon’s body to his will.

He can also look inside their memories once he absorbs them and even kill demons without using sunlight or a Nichirin Sword, the weapon Demon Slayers have to use to kill demons.
