When he saw a grief-stricken Tanjiro lamenting the loss of his family and helplessly looking on as Nezuko turned into a demon, the Water Hashira lamented the fact that he wasn't around to prevent this tragedy. However, despite putting up a tough exterior, the Hashira wanted Tanjiro to be stronger in this bleak world so that he could fight against the demons who had wronged him like this.

Zenitsu is one of the best characters in the show, using his mastery of Thunder Breathing's First Form to great effect. That being said, this power comes out when Zenitsu is unconscious, with this goofy character being pretty cowardly otherwise.

However, he does want to change his demeanor and actively trains to become stronger despite having a tendency to run away from adversity. Viewers can't help but feel sad for a character who is clearly trying his best... and is more than pulling his weight in battle.

After losing himself in Enmu's dream world, Tanjiro enjoyed the time he spent with his lost family. It was a treat... but the demon slayer soon realized that something was off, and came to the conclusion that he was under attack by a wily demon.

He tearfully bid farewell to his family before going back to the realm of the living to fight against Enmu. He said goodbye to everyone before taking their memories and using them to fuel his attacks against this vile demon who used the memories of his own family against him.

Yoriichi is one of the greatest swordsmen of all time and the man who devised the powerful Sun Breathing style. Despite this stature, Yoriichi was a humble man and always looked up to his ender brother, Michikatsu.

It's a shame that this brotherly love didn't stop Michikatsu from agreeing to become a demon, taking on the name Kokushibo in the process. However, even after all of this, Yoriichi treasured the memories of his brother, and this was apparent right before his demise too.

He talked about the beauty of human life before engaging in one last battle that ended with his demise. It's the foregone conclusion of this battle that makes his words more emotional and cement Rengoku as one of the best characters in the series.

2 "Rengoku Didn’t Lose! He Didn’t Let Anybody Die! He Fought to the End! He Protected Them to the End! You’re the One Who Lost! It’s Rengoku Who Won!" — Tanjiro Kamado

After being punched through the stomach by Rengoku, the Flame Hashira still didn't give up and used the rest of his will to try and force Akaza to die under the blinding light of the sun. However, Akaza managed to run away, with Tanjiro berating him with a series of impactful statements.

He was emotional at the loss of this brilliant Hashira, but Tanjiro still praised Rengoku to the moon and back. He outright stated that Akaza never won and that Rengoku did way more than he could ever achieve as a pathetic demon.

Zenitsu is a loyal friend who will always stick up for his comrades despite being a coward. Watching him protect Nezuko's box while Inosuke was actively beating him to get it proved just how much he treasured his friendship with Tanjiro.

It's moments like these that make Zenitsu such an amazing character, and a fan favorite in the eyes of many. Despite being beaten down viciously, he protected Nezuko until he wasn't physically capable of defending her anymore.
