This allows him to channel the Sun Breathing techniques harbored in his bloodline, letting him enhance his power and fight against the Upper Rank Demon Moons that have terrorized humanity for ages.

It's revealed later on that these two characters were killed by the Hand Demon, who devoured them and multiple others during the trial on Mount Fujikasane. Tanjiro wastes no time in taking revenge for their meaningless deaths, using the first form of Water Breathing to behead this monstrosity once and for all.

After a battle against the so-called mother of the group, Tanjiro is about to go for the final blow, only to see an expression of joy and serenity on his opponent's face. Striving to pay respect to her in her final moments, Tanjiro whips out the Fifth Form of Water Breathing and gives her a quick and painless death.

During the Infinity Castle arc, Tanjiro and Giyu face off against Akaza in a battle for the ages. After a grueling confrontation, Tanjiro manages to exploit an opening, beheading Akaza with the Fifth Form of Sun Breathing. While Akaza's body endures even after this fatal blow, this move is what causes Akaza to remember his past, rue his mistakes, and eventually lead to him accepting his death and ending the confrontation once and for all.
