Backstory and Rank Promotion

Upper-Moon-Doma

Born with unique polychromatic eyes, Doma was seen as a supernatural figure even as a child by his parents. However, when his mother killed his father and then herself, the young Doma felt no emotions about it. At age 20, Doma met the demon Muzan Kibutsuji, who turned him into a demon. Taking the name Doma, he began eating humans, especially women, under the guise of saving them. For over a century, Doma served as the charismatic yet deceitful leader of the Eternal Paradise cult.

Doma is a complete psychopath who feels no human emotions and sees others only as pitiful beings. Doma has an intensely nihilistic worldview, thinking life is meaningless and that only death can end suffering. This bleak outlook drives his murderous actions and manipulation of his cult followers.

Within the Twelve Kizuki, Doma currently holds the position of Upper Moon 2, one of the highest demonic ranks behind only Kokushibo. He was formerly Upper Moon Six as well. This lofty position implies Doma's immense power, as only the twelve strongest demons are selected for the Twelve Demon Moons. His ability to rise from the upper six to two over centuries also underscores his formidable combat skills and adaptability. As Upper Moon 2, Doma likewise commands great authority as one of the top officers serving under Muzan.

Doma's Abilities Make Him Incredibly Tough to Fight

As the current Upper Moon Two, Doma holds significant combat prowess, far surpassing most demons. The Twelve Kizuki hierarchy places him as one of the three strongest demons to have ever existed. In terms of rankings compared to his peers, Doma is suggested to be faster and more powerful than Upper Moon Three Akaza. When discussing who could defeat whom in battle, Doma scoffed at the idea of Akaza having any chance against him despite Akaza's immense strength. This showcases the immense gap between Doma and a demon as formidable as Akaza.

Beyond his combat prowess, Doma's intellect is highlighted as one of his most dangerous traits. During battle, Doma displayed keen analytical skills by swiftly deducing Kanao Tsuyuri's enhanced eyesight abilities and conjuring counterstrategies on the fly. He possesses incredible memory as well, being able to remember even the most insignificant details from back when he was human, over a century ago. Such calculating minds have allowed Doma to deceive followers for over a century, without fail, through his cult that he used to lure and prey on humans.

Physically, Doma possesses monstrous attributes befitting an upper-moon demon. He can move at speeds far exceeding what the human eye can perceive, appearing to teleport over short distances. Doma was able to easily keep up with Hashira-level combatants like Shinobu Kocho, the fastest Hashira among her generation. In one impressive feat, Doma blitzed Shinobu by attacking her before she could react at all, a testament to his blinding quickness. Alongside his lightning reflexes, Doma possesses immense durability, being able to withstand brutal attacks like having chunks of his head destroyed by Akaza with no pain shown.

As a demon, Doma naturally excels at regenerative abilities. When taking damage like losing parts of his skull or receiving a deadly poison dosage 700 times the lethal amount, Doma can regenerate completely in seconds without much visible strain. His body also efficiently adapted to poisons over time to develop immunities. Perhaps Doma's most shocking trait is his limitless stamina and resilience, never showing fatigue or wearing down, no matter the punishment endured in lengthy battles.

Blood Demon Art Technique and Fighting Style

Cryokinesis is Doma's Blood Demon Art ability that grants him extremely powerful cryokinesis. He can generate ice and frost from his flesh and blood and can spawn it anywhere in his vicinity, as well as manipulate it at will, allowing him to unleash incredibly potent ice techniques. Additionally, the ice created from his Blood Demon Art is extremely lethal to those that inhale it, causing the cells of the victim's lungs to die and rendering them unable to breathe very quickly. His ice and frost have also been noted to be freezing, as shown when the air around Doma’s frost was cold enough to make Shinobu's lungs feel as if they were about to burst and nearly freeze Kanao's body and surroundings just by coming into contact with it.

In combat, Doma is incredibly skilled at Tessenjutsu, as shown during his battles against the Demon Slayers. It is implied that his skill in this martial art surpasses Akaza's bare-fisted combat prowess due to his superior ranking compared to Akaza. Doma showcased his skill at dual-wielding his Japanese war fans against Kanao and Inosuke, where he could easily fend off both combatants, displaying his ability to use his fans for both attacking and defending during high-speed battles, parrying and delivering attacks that overwhelmed the Demon Slayers. With his exceptional proficiency in tessenjutsu and cryokinesis, Doma is a formidable opponent on the battlefield.

Doma has shown ample opportunity to demonstrate his immense power against elite opponents. When first facing the insect, Hashira Shinobu Kocho, he dispatched her easily with no serious effort. Afterward, Doma still had stamina to battle two additional opponents, the capable Demon Slayers Inosuke Hashibira and Kanao Tsuyuri, without breaking much of a sweat against the pair simultaneously. Even when nearly fatally poisoned, Doma still held his own against all three opponents, showing how difficult it was for Hashira-caliber fighters to incapacitate him through teamwork.

In another display of might, Doma was brutally attacked by his fellow Upper Moon, Akaza. Having chunks of his skull destroyed would instantly kill any normal being, yet Doma laughed it off without flinching from the pain. When Kanao further slashed open his stomach with a ferocious cut, Doma still found enough strength to make condescending remarks instead of expressing agony from the grievous wound. Few within the entire Demon Slayer universe could shrug off such catastrophic injuries so nonchalantly the way Doma did, a true testament to his immense durability and endurance.
