CyberConnect 2 and Aniplex are the respective companies behind the announcement, stating in a recent press release that the Switch release would be launching in Japan on June 9, with worldwide release on June 10. It has since been confirmed that all post-release content will be provided with the base game. Along with the original 18 characters starring in The Hinokami Chronicles, previous DLC characters like Rui, Yahaba, and Tamayo will all be instantly available to play. Other additions include new missions and changes to gameplay to make it more balanced for players. Collectors may be interested in purchasing a physical edition of the game, with an unlock key for Kimetsu Academy Tanjiro Kamado as a pre-order bonus to sweeten the deal.

The full game follows up to the Mugen Train Arc from Season 1 of Demon Slayer, which sees protagonist Tanjiro Kamado battling against various demons to save his sister Nezuko from a demonic fate. Various boss battles and explorations are also included as minor gameplay arcs undertaken in Adventure Mode. Additionally, with online local and multiplayer gameplay provided in Versus Mode, gamers can keep coming back for more to hone their battle skills. Upon release, The Hinomaki Chronicles was praised by fans for its stunning visuals, complimentary gameplay assets and challenging battles, all of which allows for a tightly plotted storyline that is fairly balanced out with competitive gameplay and a fun difficulty curve.

It will be 8 months since the initial release, and CyberConnect 2 has taken action to fix and update certain gameplay features. Its most recent update was in December 2021, and the fan consensus is happier now that fan favorite demon fighters have been added to the roster. The Switch release is still several months away, but the well-executed gameplay and stellar visuals are sure to keep on generating hype from excited fans until then.

Demon Slayer-Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles will be released for Nintendo Switch on June 10. It is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
