With the Swordsmith Village Arc set to come out later in the year, Demon Slayer fans are waiting in anticipation for it. The trailer that was released on April 17, 2022, has people excited to see the Swordsmith Village and meet new characters along with seeing Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, and Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, in action. Plus, Muzan Kibutsuji has summoned the Upper Rank Kizuki to the Infinity Castle, and it seems like some decisions are going to be made when handling the heroes in Demon Slayer.Muzan's decision not to take care of Tanjiro and Nezuko himself during their first encounter has proven to be a dumb one. But he’s not the only one who’s made some dumb decisions on the show. A few other characters have and though they have consequences, some are hilarious to watch.
10 Enmu
Enmu was pretty smart compared to the other Lower Kizuki, but his dumbest decision was letting his need to see others suffer stop him from finishing off Tanjiro and the others quickly. He had the perfect trap for them and was smart about the whole thing in letting others do the dirty work. Even after Tanjiro and the others woke up, it still seemed like Enmu had the upper hand since he had fused himself with the train.
Despite all the preparation he went through, Enmu would not only meet his end from Tanjiro and Inosuke, but most, if not all, passengers on the train survived thanks to Kyojuro Rengoku and Zenitsu. If he’d killed them after they were put to sleep, Enmu could’ve had an easy victory.
9 Inosuke Hashibira
Off the battlefield, Inosuke is a bit of an airhead, but it’s not his fault. Being raised in the mountains by boars, he has little knowledge about human interaction, but he is learning. Inosuke's hotheadedness does tend to get him into trouble and cause him to make some questionable calls. After he saw that he couldn’t beat the Father Spider Demon on his own, he did continue to fight it. Though brave in his efforts, Inosuke didn’t really do anything to it and was lucky that Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, showed up in time to save him.
Even Inosuke's decision to take Daki head-on was questionable, but possible thanks to Tanjiro and Zenitsu defending him. His reliance on brute strength doesn’t work all the time and this puts him in trouble, but Inosuke is learning to use his head more thanks to Tanjiro’s influence.
8 Daki
Poor Daki had to rely on her brother Gyutaro a lot. Though she’s killed a few Hashira by herself and is not bad in combat, it was obvious that her brother was the brains between them. The dumbest decision she made was keeping Zenitsu alive and trapped in her sash so she could devour him later. She knew he was a Demon Slayer and didn’t kill him when she had a perfect opportunity.
Daki and Gyutaro didn’t finish Zenitsu off when he was trapped beneath rubble, believing he would die soon enough. This decision would end up being her downfall since Zenitsu managed to free himself and caught her off guard with his speed. Even when it seemed like he wouldn’t be able to behead Daki, Zenitsu was able to give Inosuke the opening he needed to do it.
7 Zenitsu Agatsuma
It’s not that Zenitsu is a dumb person, but he doesn’t believe in himself as a Demon Slayer. He sees himself as weak when he’s probably just as powerful as Tanjiro, and some might even argue he is stronger. It’s probably a good thing he usually fights while unconscious. However, there's one thing that leads to him making dumb decisions: his need to keep females around him safe. When he realized that Tanjiro had Nezuko with him, he charged into Mount Natagumo without a plan and got lost. Because he didn’t know where to go, he had to fight the Older Brother Spider Demon by himself.
When he realized that Daki was an Upper Rank Kizuki, his decision to defend the girl she was abusing put him on her radar. She quickly realized Zenitsu is a Demon Slayer and kidnaped him. Had he just stayed back, Zenitsu wouldn’t have given away his position and made Daki aware that there were others around.
6 Spider Demon (Daughter)

The Daughter should’ve known that she wouldn’t be able to get away. Even if Rui had won the battle on Mount Natagumo, he wouldn’t have let her run away so easily. The Daughter had the misfortune of Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, catching up to her and asking her a few questions. When asked how many people she’s killed, the Daughter thought she could lie her way out, but Shinobu knew the truth.
Seeing that she was caught, the Daughter foolishly attacked Shinobu and thought she could win. After the Insect Hashira slashed her, the Daughter saw that Shinobu couldn’t decapitate her because she was too weak. However, Shinobu proved that just because she’s too weak to behead demons, it does not mean she cannot poison them.
5 Wakuraba, The Lower Three Kizuki
For the short time that fans got to see them, some might think Muzan was probably right in only keeping the Upper Rank Kizuki around. All of them minus Enmu tried to defend themselves when Muzan confronted them about running away whenever a Hashira was around.
After Muzan killed the Lower Four and Lower Six Kizuki, Wakuraba made the really dumb decision to run away. Even Enmu called him a fool for thinking he could get away, and this decision would cost Wakuraba his life.
4 Gyutaro
The two demon siblings are always looking out for each other, but it’s obvious that Gyutaro is the one who truly takes care of Daki. He gave her his left eye before her fight with Zenitsu and Inosuke, and showed that she’s even deadlier when he’s helping her. However, this would eventually be their downfall. After Tengen finished his Musical Score technique, he was on equal fighting grounds despite having one hand and being slowed down by Gyutaro’s poison.
Gyutaro saw this and Tanjiro coming after, but instead of taking his eye back from Daki, he left it with her. Had he taken it back, his whole focus would’ve been on his fight and he probably could’ve won. After their defeat, the two of them argued, and Gyutaro even said that if he hadn’t been looking out for Daki, he could’ve won his fight against Tengen and Tanjiro.
3 Tanjiro Kamado
There is no doubt that Tanjiro is a smart young man whether it’s on or off the battlefield. However, there is one dumb thing that Tanjiro continues to do: losing his sword in some way. Whether he’s throwing it at demons who are on the run or unintentionally breaking them, Tanjiro’s care for swords leaves a little to be desired. It’s not that he decides to do this on purpose (usually it’s in the heat of the moment), but one would think he’d be a little more careful with swords after he broke the first one. Because he loses his swords, Tanjiro has to face the wrath of Hotaru Haganezuka, the swordsmith in charge of making them.
Plus, Zenitsu pointed out that Nezuko would be safer at the Butterfly Mansion, but Tanjiro does continue to bring her along. He’s honestly lucky Tengen didn’t see her try to devour some nearby humans after she transformed during her fight with Daki. If Tengen had seen that, he would’ve had to execute her since she was a threat to human life. It can be argued if bringing Nezuko along is a smart or dumb decision, but there is no denying that she would be safer away from any fighting.
2 Muzan Kibutsuji
Muzan’s dumbest decision has to be sending his demons after the Kamado siblings and not taking care of them himself. One would think after Rui’s defeat, he would take them a little more seriously, but he doesn’t. Tanjiro and Nezuko continue to work together to take care of regular demons and eventually help in taking out Gyutaro and Daki.
If Muzan was smart, he would’ve taken them out shortly after meeting them, especially seeing that Tanjiro wears the Hanafuda earrings. He knows it means it could be a future problem for him, but he sent Susumaru and Yahaba after them.
1 Hotaru Haganezuka
Fans of Demon Slayer know that when Haganezuka appears, he’s probably going to be chasing after Tanjiro with a sharp knife, or knives, for damaging or losing his swords. Haganezuka takes great pride in his work, and it can be argued that his decision to continue making Tanjiro’s swords is dumb. He could ask to have another fellow swordsmith make them and save himself the headache of having to do it.
However, since he’s in charge of making Tanjiro’s swords, it leads to some of the best and funniest moments on the show. Haganezuka has shown that he is not someone to cross and takes his work as a swordsmith very seriously. Fans can only hope that Tanjiro will be a little more careful with the next sword Haganezuka forges for him. However, others might secretly hope that Tanjiro continues losing his swords in some way just so Haganezuka can appear to provide a good laugh.
