Shinobu Kocho runs a tight shift at the Butterfly Mansion. Not only does she run the mansion, but she is also a powerful hashira who, just like her peers, possesses the thirst to eradicate demons. While Shinobu may seem calm, she harbors a deep rage and hatred towards demons ever since her sister and parents were killed by them. Just like Shinobu, the majority of the attendants at the Butterfly mansion were survivors of demon attacks and had come to the mansion to play their part in fighting the war against the demons who ruined their lives. Just like how the Kakushi are the attendants to Demon Slayers, the attendants at the Butterfly Mansion also play a similar role by looking after the badly injured. The Butterfly mansion is first seen during the rehabilitation arc when Tanjiro is brought there by a Kakushi after the events at Mount Natagumo. Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke all reunite here and are slowly nursed back to health.

The process of healing them, however, was far from relaxing. Aoi Kanzaki, one of the attendants at the Butterfly Mansion, puts the trio through hell and high waters, so they heal. This is seen when Kanzaki silences Zenitsu for being such a cry baby and forces him to take his medication. Even though Kanzaki appears angry, she also has a soft side where she does her level best to heal and help the Demon Slayers who arrive at the Butterfly Mansion. Before becoming a helper at the Butterfly Mansion, Kanzaki was someone who had passed the Final selection to become a Demon Slayer, but did not possess powerful fighting skills like her peers. Even though she was a user of the water breathing technique, she believed it was luck that helped her survive the final selection and, instead, decided to join the Butterfly Mansion as a helper. So while her peers were going on missions and training to become stronger, she used her medical knowledge and craft skills to help the Demon Slayers in the way she could. She also creates a training program for the Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitusu, so they can quickly recover from their battles.

Apart from Kanzaki, Sumi Nakahara, Naho Takada and Kiyo Terauchi also work as attendants in the Butterfly Mansion. They were also responsible for nursing Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu back to health. Although the three attendants come from a tragic past and possess no abilities, it was them who taught the total concentration: constant technique to Tanjro. This meant that the three attendants knew about breathing techniques and were able to make Tanjiro become stronger. This meant that they too play a key role in the growth and development of Tanjiro and his goal to defeat Muzan.

The Butterfly Mansion, plays a pivotal role in the Demon Slayer series and is an important location when it comes to healing the injured and weak. Without the mansion, many Demon Slayers would not have been able to survive the deadly demon attacks they endure when fighting demons.

Demon Slayer is available to stream on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
