During Deltarune Chapter 2's first anniversary and the seventh anniversary of Undertale, creator Toby Fox shares an update and preview of the next Chapter's content. The gap between chapters and development isn't too surprising for some fans since the first chapter of Deltarune was released back in 2018, followed up by the second three years later. While fans expected another long wait for the next chapters, Toby Fox had already confirmed that the next release of the game would include Chapters 3-5, which are still in development.

Toby Fox tempered fan expectations earlier this month, stating that no new Deltarune chapters would be released in 2022. Despite this bit of unfortunate news, Fox did give fans a bit of hope, stating that he will be revealing something special for the shared anniversary of Deltarune and Undertale. The latest post on the game's website gives fans an update about Chapters 3-5, along with previews of the future release.

This update starts with Toby Fox thanking the many fans of Deltarune for being so passionate, with him alluding to Deltarune's breakout character Spamton and how he helped skyrocket the game's popularity. He then tells fans since Deltarune's next three chapters are being developed at the same time, he's had a few more members brought on board, though mostly the team has been working on Chapters 3 and 4. He also shared a set of screenshots and videos that tease the next chapter.

This set of mini previews showcases a number of different music tracks that can be heard throughout the game, along with snippets from Hometown and Castle Town. This includes a sneak peek at some things players can do in this next chapter, such as walking around with Susie, or even chatting up with Queen from Deltarune Chapter 2. The update even notes if players recruited the right characters in the previous chapter, the background music in Castle Town lounge can change.

The last part of the update shows off a brand-new Dark World, the alternate world where all the battles take place, that will be featured in the next chapter of Deltarune. Based on the accompanying track "Green Room," the TV Studio aesthetic of the screenshot shared, and the cliffhanger from the second chapter, it seems to further speculation that the next Dark World will be TV-based. Toby Fox ends this update by reminding fans the game is still in development and no chapters will be released this year, but a special charity auction featuring Spamton merch will be held on the game's official website.

Deltarune Chapter 3-5 is currently in development.
