Deep Rock Galactic features several different enemies to keep miners on the edge of their toes while they explore Hoxxes. One of the most threatening of all is the Glyphid Bulk Detonator, a creature guaranteed to kill any Deep Rock Galactic player that comes too close.

While enemies like the Glyphid Praetorian are intimidating, the Glyphid Bulk Detonator may be the most fear-inducing enemy type in the game. Regular Detonators can be frustrating if they get close, but they die in a few hits from most weapons and their explosions are easy to run away from. However, Bulk Detonators are a different story. Not only do the massive bugs take a serious amount of damage from every Deep Rock Galactic weapon, but the explosion once they are killed creates a huge crater and is likely to damage players who are a fair bit away - instantly killing those that are too close.

Bulk Detonators are rare, though, and it seems like one fan of the game wants to see the enemy type utilized more via a special variant. Reddit user Professional-Dog-993 shared their Deep Rock Galactic creation with the community recently, and it is dubbed the “Rad Bulk.” A green version of the typically orange creature, the change in color scheme should give players an idea of what to expect from the hypothetical enemy addition.

If Professional-Dog-993’s concept ever became a reality, a future piece of Deep Rock Galactic content would see the Rad Bulk Detonator leaving behind a radiation-filled crater once it explodes. To stop the enemy type from being too overpowered, the Redditor suggested making the enemy extremely weak to fire. Smaller explosions are another way to keep it balanced, as it would be devastating in a different way from the regular Bulk Detonator.

Aside from the explosion leaving behind radiation that deals more damage the closer players are to the Rad Bulk, the Redditor listed faster movement and quicker digging as potential traits for the creature. In the comments, RiiluTheLizardKing argued that a larger explosion for the Rad Bulk would make sense due to the radioactive nature of the enemy type, even if it could make the foe slightly overpowered. Regardless, with over 1,100 upvotes, it seems like many players would be on board with Coffee Stain Studios and Ghost Ship Games adding an enemy like this one. While it remains to be seen if the fan concept ever inspires a real enemy addition, the design was clearly well thought out.

Following a hugely successful release on PlayStation Plus and the announcement of a Deep Rock Galactic board game, the hit indie title will likely only get bigger with time. As such, more fans could be sharing enemy concepts like the one above very soon.

Deep Rock Galactic is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
