Deep Rock Galactic, like any other successful game, has a loyal community that is constantly sharing memorable moments from their gameplay sessions. One fan of the Coffee Stain Studios and Ghost Ship Games title recently posted a particularly entertaining clip, and it sees them being sent to the med bay unexpectedly.

There is plenty that players can do to keep themselves entertained when on the Space Rig, Deep Rock Galactic’s memorable hub area. Alongside loadout customization and dressing up miners, players can visit the Abyss Bar to buy some drinks. While there is a dance machine across the way, an even more entertaining source of entertainment is the barrel kicking mini-game by the bar. Here, players need to kick barrels into a moving hoop to score points and compete for a high score.

However, as those who have gone for the Darwin Award achievement will surely know, jumping into the moving barrel goal will lead to a miner’s death. This is how Reddit user Jacklerr eventually perished, though they could not have been any further from their eventual point of demise at the start of the clip. At the beginning of the video, the Deep Rock Galactic player was seen messing with one of the many barrels that are found around the Space Rig. This eventually proved to be their downfall, as one of the inanimate objects went rogue.

While Deep Rock Galactic’s barrels are used for a number of Space Rig-related achievements, some players simply enjoy kicking them around between their dives. Whether they are trying to relieve some stress or are waiting for their teammates to customize their pickaxe, kicking the barrels is a fun - but apparently risky - pastime. As seen in the clip, kicking a barrel into the barrier next to the Performance Pass terminal leads to the Redditor suddenly being launched into the ceiling and all the way past the Abyss Bar.

When the player lands, they find themselves right on top of the barrel kick mini-game’s goal. Shocked, they move a bit to the right, falling into the goal and being killed. With the player essentially murdered by a barrel, they were quick to argue that it may have been possessed by Agent 007. Others argued that Hitman’s Agent 47 could have been the disguised barrel in the comments. Regardless, the 3,400 upvotes the post has received since it was uploaded show how entertained the community was by the clip.

With even the glitches in the game being entertaining, it is not too surprising that Deep Rock Galactic has become a huge success. With the seasonal format likely to keep players coming back, more funny clips like the one starring the killer barrel are likely.

Deep Rock Galactic is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
