The Goldenloop update brought heaps of new content to Deathloop upon its release in 2022, adding new enemies and powerful upgrades. Even the game's ending was extended for new and returning players to enjoy for free. Trophy and achievement hunters also found themselves returning to the game for its four new challenges, each designed to show off the new content; to reach 100% completion, players will need to think outside the box and take on some tough challenges.

One such challenge is to take on one of Deathloop's toughest new enemies - the paint-bombers - and use their signature weapons to take down another enemy. This will unlock the Postmodern Abstractionism trophy and make players aware of a creative tool they can use to take down their enemies.

Paint-bombers are the opposite of stealthy; their bright colors, loud music, and tendency to yell while sprinting toward the player with explosives in hand make that obvious. Players will need to take one of these enemies' paint bombs for themselves, however, and that requires a stealth kill. Being spotted by a paint-bomber and letting them get too close will trigger an explosion, making the paint bombs unusable.

Recommended Loadout:

The recommended place to attempt this trophy is at Fristad Rock during Noon. In the morning, this location acts as a home to the visionary Frank Spicer, but players won't need to deal with the musician while attempting this trophy as there are no paint bombers in the area at that time. Instead, visiting the area at Noon when Fia Zborowska is present will provide the perfect opportunity for mayhem (and trophies.)

Start by taking the stairs up to the tunnel exit - there are some enemies to kill here, but they can easily be avoided by shifting on top of the cliffs to the right. Look down into the courtyard - a paint bomber should be visible dancing in front of some blast doors near the broken vehicles. They can be sniped from afar or stealth-killed with a machete, but it's important that they do not notice the player. Assuming the assassination is successful, two to four paint bombs will be left behind.

These can be grabbed and thrown, but will only explode when shot; their explosion radius is very small, however, and they take a few seconds to detonate. The recommended strategy is to throw the paint bomb at a crowd of enemies, shoot it, and use the Havoc slab to absorb damage while the paint bomb explodes. Turning off auto-aim is advised, as it will try to 'snap' onto enemies instead.

Like most games in the Immersive Sim genre, this isn't the only strategies players can use; any location with paint bombers and groups of enemies like Karl's Bay can provide the perfect opportunity to attempt the trophy. Regardless, when at least one enemy is caught and killed by the paint bomb's blast, the Postmodern Abstractionism trophy will unlock.

Deathloop is available now on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
