As leaked earlier today, Arkane Studios announced Deathloop will be its next game as part of Bethesda's E3 2019 press conference. Arkane Studios most recently released Prey and before that Dishonored and its sequel. Deathloop will mark a new direction for the studio, a new IP, but retain the first-person action-shooter gameplay that Arkane is known for. As with Dishonored and Prey, the player will be given a toolset of unique abilities and weapons so as to approach any gameplay

Based on Deathloop's announcement trailer, the player will take on the role of an assassin protagonist living out an endless loop of lives. Each death seeing the protagonist waking up alive on a mysterious beach. According to the game's description, each life will see the players tasked with hunting down targets across the island of Blackreef.

Deathloop is the second of two new IP revealed during Bethesda's E3 2019 press conference, the other being Ghostwire Tokyo. Ghostwire Tokyo is a new horror game from legendary creator Shinji Mikami and his studio Tango Gameworks. Together both Deathloop and Ghostwire made up perhaps the most exciting reveals of the event, short of the deep look at Doom Eternal. While Bethesda isn't ready to share more information on Starfield or the next Elder Scrolls, Deathloop and the other games shown kept excitement high throughout the show.

Deathloop is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
