Death Stranding is a confusing game. It features a long, complicated story with concepts that can be difficult to wrap one's head around. Of course, part of what makes Death Stranding such a unique experience are the very details that make it so puzzling, or in some cases, slightly disturbing.
As many know, Death Stranding lets players pee, and now that the game is on PC, one player used a camera hack to determine if Sam is anatomically correct. As it turns out, despite Hideo Kojima's dedication to the small details in his games, when Sam pees it's actually just a stream coming from nowhere, with Sam grabbing onto, well, nothing, as he takes care of his business.
Typically when a player tries to catch Sam in the act, the character will keep his back turned to them, blocking them from seeing anything distasteful. There are, however, scenes of Sam showering throughout the game, which is also usually obscured to some degree. Players were, naturally, curious about whether or not things had been modeled into the game, and fans now have their answer.
Perhaps what drove curiosity the most is that it seems like something Hideo Kojima might have put into the game as a joke. Kojima likes to tease and mess with his fans, and the creator has put some weird additions into games he's worked on in the past, with things like flaming whales making an appearance in Metal Gear Solid 5.
Still, it's more than understandable that a line had do be drawn, and rather than risk any drama with the ESRB — or be really creepy — it seems that Kojima decided to keep things PG, apparently understanding that something like this was bound to happen. Video game controversies happen frequently, and something inappropriate appearing likely would have stirred up trouble for Kojima Productions.
Regardless, fans now have an answer to one of their questions about Norman Reedus' portrayal of Sam. The question now is which other weird Death Stranding questions PC players will find answers to through hacks, as the game is weird enough to include dozens of odd tidbits, if not hundreds.
