Less than a month after announcing Death Stranding 2, Kojima Productions shared codes to unlock free avatars to celebrate this upcoming game from Hideo Kojima. Players eager to discover the new adventures of Fragile and Sam Porter Bridges can show their love for Death Stranding by displaying these new PlayStation avatars.Hideo Kojima took the stage during The Game Awards 2022 show earlier this month to announce Death Stranding 2, the sequel to his 2019’s dystopian action game. A short trailer showed the return of Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges and Lea Seydoux as Fragile, although both characters appear vastly different than in the original game.RELATED: Hideo Kojima Says Death Stranding 2 is Not a ‘Regular’ Sequel, Promises it Will Feel ‘New’To celebrate the announcement of Death Stranding 2, Kojima Productions shared PlayStation Network codes to claim free avatars starring the BB pod. These codes unlock four avatars showing tentacles crawling around inside BB’s former carrying case, just as they appear at the end of Death Stranding 2’s teaser trailer. The BB pod avatars are available for any player who claims them, regardless of whether they own the original Death Stranding.

To unlock these special Death Stranding 2 avatars, players can redeem the following codes to the PlayStation Store:

  • Americas: PRKT-2QNQ-DH4X
  • Europe, Middle East, and Africa: EHNA-6MNB-PGL5
  • Asia: CRBA-GKNP-J9EK
  • Japan: JP2J-A5NG-PT2F
  • Korea: 3D86-9PNF-KABQ

To redeem these codes on the PlayStation Store in a web browser, players should click on their avatar at the top of the PlayStation Store screen and select “Redeem Codes” from the drop-down menu. This opens a window to enter a product code and will add the avatars to the player's account.

These cryptic BB Pod avatars raise several questions regarding their role in Death Stranding 2. The reveal trailer showed BB as a toddler, playing with Lea Seydoux’s Fragile at the beginning of the video. This peaceful moment didn’t last long, as the duo had to escape hooded figures that eventually shot Fragile. What happened to BB remains a mystery, as the trailer then shifts to a massive ship coming out of the water in front of an older version of Norman Reedus’ Sam Porter Bridges, the protagonist of the original Death Stranding.

Hideo Kojima shared that the writing process of this new story was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, as he began working on Death Stranding 2 as soon as the first game shipped but had to scrap the original scenario following the virus’ outbreak. Death Stranding 2 is now officially coming to the PlayStation 5 and will follow the events of the first game, though Kojima has said it will feel "new" rather than like a regular sequel.

Death Stranding 2 is in development for PlayStation 5.
