A costume artist has fellow fans confused with her rendition of Fragile from Death Stranding 2 because her recreation of a promotional picture is nearly identical. The fan has previously dressed as Fragile from the original Death Stranding, and got to pose for pictures with Hideo Kojima himself.

Kojima is famous for building hype for his games, whether it be strange countdown timers, releasing trailers with the wrong character in, or in the case of Death Stranding 2, showing off silhouettes with strange questions plastered on top and more recently giving players the chance to redeem codes for Death Stranding 2 PlayStation avatars. Despite the attempt at secrecy, there had been rumors of Death Stranding 2 being introduced at The Game Awards, and those speculations proved to be true.

The trailer shown for Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards featured Fragile heavily, and the character has since enjoyed a lot of attention from fans. Especially from Reddit user Angelinazelda, who recreated a Death Stranding 2 promotional still with amazing precision. Right down to the exact tone of red being used and the texture of the character’s hair.

The recreation is so precise that most of the comments on the Reddit post are to say that they had difficulties deciphering which was the original video game character and which was the real person. Many stated that the key for them finally realizing which was taken from real life was the plastic look of the baby featured in the Redditor’s recreation. This goes to show, along with comparing the graphics in Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion and the original, how impressive contemporary graphics really are.

Other users claim to have been able to tell the two apart by the missing list of actors’ names from the bottom of the image, but otherwise it seems that the recreation is nearly perfect. In the comments, Angelinazelda posted a link to an image with some of the editing effects taken off to show how she created the amazing work. The additional image shows that despite the seemingly dark lighting, the picture was actually taken at daytime to get the right effects. The efforts taken into making this scene show the love and care for a game that people with artistic vision like Kojima create for the players. The extra focus on Fragile recently has had some players expecting a character or plot twist like in Metal Gear Solid 2 for Death Stranding 2, but until the game is released fans will have to wait and pay tribute with projects such as this.

Death Stranding 2 is currently in development for PS5.
