Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will feature a guest appearance from George Miller, the director of the Mad Max movies. Hideo Kojima’s hotly anticipated sequel was shown towards the end of this week’s PlayStation State of Play livestream, with a drama-packed trailer that highlighted many major plot points awaiting fans. So far, it looks like Sam Porter Bridges will team up with Fragile once again as part of her new organization Drawbridge on a mission to reconnect the world in Death Stranding 2. Unfortunately, it seems the sinister terrorist Higgs has returned to enact revenge on the pair, armed with a robot army and dark secrets surrounding the former BB unit Lou.

Judging from the recent Death Stranding 2 trailer, it looks like many aspects of the first game will be brought back in the sequel, including Hideo Kojima’s well-documented penchant for casting big-name celebrities in his works. The original Death Stranding was a prime example of this, with The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus as Sam, Mads Mikkelsen as the antagonistic Cliff Unger, and actress Lea Seydoux as Fragile. Death Stranding also featured famed director Guillermo del Toro as the face model of the supporting character Deadman, but with Jesse Corti providing his voice.

Death Stranding 2's Biggest Mystery is No Closer To Being Solved After The State of Play Trailer

Even after the latest State of Play trailer for Death Stranding 2, Elle Fanning's role in the sequel remains shrouded in mystery.

Some film-savvy gamers might have recognized fellow director George Miller as the Drawbridge staffer working with Fragile at the beginning of the latest Death Stranding 2 trailer, which confirmed that it is actually his likeness being used for the character. However, based on the trailer’s credits, Miller is only lending his face to this role like del Toro did in the first game, with Marty Rhone handling the vocal performance. Outside of gaming, Miller is known for directing the Mad Max films in addition to The Witches of Eastwick, Happy Feet, and even Babe: Pig in the City.

George Miller’s Death Stranding 2 character wasn’t named in the recent trailer, but it seems he will be a regular ally to Fragile and Sam given how prominent he and his strange cat-like pet creature were in it. Miller isn’t the only big name in Death Stranding 2’s star-studded cast, which will also see Elle Fanning as what many believe is an older version of Lou. The small robotic puppet that accompanies Sam on his travels is modeled after Turkish-German director Fatih Akin, with his voice being provided by Jonathan Roumie. Finally, veteran voice actor Troy Baker is returning as Higgs in his new jester/rocker appearance.

Various other celebrities have been named as possible cameos in Death Stranding 2, such as Cyberpunk 2077 star Keanu Reeves, but nothing more has been confirmed as of yet. Hideo Kojima has already put together an impressive line-up of stars in his latest game, and George Miller’s experience with stories of people struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic landscape will probably be a great help to Sam and Fragile when Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches sometime in 2025.
