Death Stranding 2 needs to have an excellent cast, just as the original game did back in 2019. The first Death Stranding was a narrative-heavy game, one that relied on the excellent performances given by its actors. While the first game most notably featured Norman Reedus of Walking Dead fame, it also contained performances from Guillermo Del Toro, Lea Seydoux, Mads Mikkelsen, and many other huge names. While only a few members of the cast are known, Death Stranding 2 will, like the original, feature prominent stars in its cast.

Firstly, Death Stranding 2 will feature Norman Reedus returning as Sam Porter Bridges, the protagonist of the original game. The fact that Reedus will return is one that many fans could have predicted, and is unsurprising given the conclusion of the first game. While Death Stranding answered many of the questions it presented gamers, given the positive reception around the character and his adoption of BB, also known as Lou, at the end of the first game, it makes sense that Kojima productions would want to check back in with the character. In the new game, Sam appears much older, and it is still unknown if he will yet again serve as the main player character in Death Stranding 2.

Who Will Return In Death Stranding 2?

Death Stranding Fragile

Among the returning cast is Lea Seydoux, who will be reprising her role as Fragile. Fragile acted as an aid to Sam many times in the first Death Stranding game and given what is known from that game and the trailer for the sequel, it appears that she will have a large role again, potentially raising Lou alongside Sam. Fragile, like Sam, also appears different in the trailer, though in her case some of the aging of her body appears to have been reversed. How Fragile's aging has reversed and the role she will play remains one of Death Stranding 2's mysteries.

Returning as well is Troy Baker. While his character, Higgs, is heavily hinted to be dead in the first game, it would seem he is back. While the return of Higgs Monaghan might seem outlandish to some fans, Baker was excellent in the original and his return will likely please many. Kojima Productions could have cast him to play a different role; given the often unpredictable nature of many of Kojima's past games, this is still a possibility. Troy Baker will additionally be contributing to the music in Death Stranding 2 and is credited in the trailer's score.

Who Is New In Death Stranding 2?

The most prominent addition to the cast is Elle Fanning, best known for her role as Alice in Super 8. Fanning has also appeared more recently in The Great and The Girl from Plainville. While she has held many impressive roles in the past, fans are still waiting to learn who she will play in the game. The Death Stranding 2 trailer has done nothing to answer questions about who she will play or how prominently she will be featured. While little is known about her role, her inclusion in the game is still an exciting one and will serve as her first appearance in a video game.

The other confirmed new star of Death Stranding 2 is Shioli Kutsuna. Kutsuna is best known for her role as Yukio in Deadpool 2 and as Melia in Xenoblade Chronicles. While her roles in western media have been limited, she has an extensive portfolio of work in the Japanese entertainment industry. Like Fanning, little is known about Kutsuna's role. Also confirmed for a small cameo is Taiwanese film director Kevin Ko. While knowledge about the game and its cast is limited now, fans can expect to hear more of who will appear in the game as it moves through development. So far, Death Stranding 2's cast is shaping up to be as star-studded as the original.
