It's been quite some time since there was any news regarding Ryan Reynolds and the next Deadpool film. After a strange, cryptic image earlier today, Deadpool 3 has been confirmed to be moving forward. The third installment of the Deadpool movies marks not only the first time Ryan Reynolds will be working with Kevin Feige and his team, but also sees the writers of Bob's Burgers penning the script.

The news comes from Justin Kroll at Deadline, who reports on the confirmation of Deadpool 3 and its stages in early development. Details are scarce, but it has been confirmed that Ryan Reynolds met with various writers over the past month to hear their pitches for Deadpool 3. Ryan and the heads at Marvel Studios chose the ideas presented by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, who both serve as executive producers and writers for the Emmy-award winning adult animated series, Bob's Burgers. The sisters have had their hand in a long stretch of adult comedies.

Further details of Deadpool 3 reveal that the studio intends to make Deadpool 3 R-rated, a great relief for those concerned that the merger between Disney and 20th Century Fox would render this impossible. An additional detail reveals that the film will more than likely have a new director at the helm. Deadpool 2's director, David Leitch, has a packed schedule for 2021. While there is still a chance for Leitch to return to direct the third film, he was not part of the writer's search, which is an indication that he will likely not be appointed as the director of Deadpool 3.

Today's announcement is a big sigh of relief, and a small catharsis, for fans of Deadpool. The last movie came out in May of 2018, and there was a grave concern that Disney would simply not allow for Deadpool to continue as is, especially with an R-rating.

Deadpool 3 is now in early development.
