Deadpool 3 is not only officially confirmed to be in the works at Disney, but a recent video featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman confirmed that Jackman would be reprising his role as Wolverine once again. Fans can't wait to get their first taste of Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and theories are abound about how and why Wolverine will return after Jackman stated his time with the character was officially over.

Deadpool and Wolverine have a storied history in both comic books and movies, so there's plenty to pull from in terms of what events Deadpool 3 could bring to the MCU. Between taking on paranormal threats and hunting each other down, Reynolds and Jackman have a bevy of iconic moments to pull from, it's just a matter of figuring out which ones to pick.

8 Council Of Werewolves

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is starting to introduce the supernatural and occult via special presentations like Werewolf By Night, the upcoming Blade movie, and characters like Scarlet Witch and Moon Knight dealing with creatures and entities of that ilk.

What better way to include Wolverine and Deadpool in on the fun than having them if even for a brief moment in the movie, take on a horde of werewolves? In the Wolverine Annual released in 1999, the two have to take down a group of monsters called the Council of Werewolves, a task that interrupted their brawl between one another. It ends in a good place as the two relax with one another, sharing stories over a beer or two.

7 The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

With the number of times, Deadpool has poked fun at both Clint Eastwood and the Western genre, it's quite fitting he was in a comic book series called The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The unique trio of Captain America, Wolverine, and Deadpool came together to find out who was collecting and selling Wade Wilson's organs on the black market which led to a whole new collection of super soldiers.

In reality, if this storyline was adapted it's unlikely the MCU lets Captain American make an appearance. That is unless Chris Evans returns as a multiverse variant, giving fans another dose of his take on Steve Rogers, and Deadpool a living target to poke fun at his new universe's family-friendly nature.

6 A Wolverine's Bounty

It's unclear to this point how and why Deadpool will partner up, or at least run into Wolverine in Deadpool 3. The assumption is that the two wind up together in some sort of meta goodbye to Fox's X-Men universe.

The reality is that Deadpool is a mercenary and like he did in the Wolverine: Origin comics, he could be hired as a bounty hunter tasked with taking down Logan. They happen to be two of the deadliest and hardest-to-kill Marvel heroes in existence, so having one hunt the other feels like a job only the other of the two could accomplish.

5 The Poolverine Monstrosity

When two characters both can regenerate their bodies and heal from almost anything, it does beg the question of what would happen if they started regrowing too close to one another. This is exactly what happened in 2022's Wolverine #23, wherein the two have their bodies amalgamate in a scene reminiscent of a Cronenberg film.

Fans dubbed the combination 'Poolverine' and the imagery gets funnier when thinking about Hugh Jackman's Wolverine arguing with Ryan Reynold's Deadpool as the two try and understand how to move and function as a singular functioning organism.

4 The Never-Ending Fight

Fans often clamor for the day when a clash between Wolverine and Hulk will be put on screens in a live-action universe. With the recent announcement of Deadpool 3, it seems another much-wanted fight between two virtually unkillable super-powered individuals is possible. In the 90s Deadpool and Wolverine ended up fighting due to Wade Wilson discovering his mind is most focused when he's in battle.

He then assumed fighting someone he couldn't defeat would be a genius idea and thus he sought out the regeneration grump known as Wolverine. A fight where both are continuously healing would be a hysterical way for these two versions of the characters to run into one another.

3 Wade Wilson Is Jean Grey

Now, though Deadpool can be a bit spastic and has no attention span whatsoever, he's also not above doing whatever needs to be done to get the job done. In 2011 he decided that disguising himself as Wolverine's love interest Jean Grey was a necessary gameplan in the one-shot comic The Decoy.

Both Deadpool films have leaned into the physical comedy that comes into play with someone like Wade Wilson who self-heals incredibly fast, so the idea of him serving as a distraction for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is comedic gold.

2 Quite A Beheading

Physical humor is core to many of the jokes both the Deadpool comics and films have leaned into. The regenerating and healing nature of Deadpool's power makes it so the severing of his body parts can lead to awkward and unfortunate circumstances for the lovable mercenary. God Of War (2018) featured the main character Kratos traveling around with a severed talking head on his waster.

Deadpool 3 could follow in those same footsteps and partially adapt Cable and Deadpool #43 in which Wolverine beheads Deadpool. A road trip movie that begins or ends with Logan carrying Wade Wilson's head around is totally plausible in 2022, which is crazy in and of itself.

1 Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe

Deadpool 3 Wolverine Comic Book Moments 1

Marvel fans are hoping and praying that Deadpool's inclusion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes with the possibility of adapting a fan-favorite event of the merc with a mouth. Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe feels like something that could only occur in the MCU thanks to its current focus on the multiverse.

He'd never get the chance to kill off main universe characters, but placing him in one where he can go to town on any and everyone would finally bring fans' dreams to life. This comic event of course features Deadpool killing Wolverine with a sword designed to slow the healing process with the use of an element called carbonadium. As he always does, Wade Wilson declares in a meta-laced text that the popularity of Wolverine won't save him, playing on the tropes of comic book character revivals.
