With the USG Ishimura now free of poison gas for the most part, Isaac can now focus on finding a way off of the ship. After getting rid of the Leviathan, Isaac found out from Elizabeth that there is an SOS Beacon somewhere on the Mining Deck. If they can find a way to launch it out into space, there may be a way to be rescued.

The seventh chapter in the remake of Dead Space involves players looking for the Beacon and then finding a way to launch it. Here is what players can expect as they go into the seventh chapter, Into the Void.

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Go to the Mining Deck

dead-space-remake-chapter-7-walkthrough1

Follow the locator to reach the Mining Deck. While at the tram station, make sure to lift the lockdown to enable fast travel back to this area if needed. From there, head to the Mining Control Room to activate the launch tubes. To get there, Dead Space players will need to use the elevator and go down to Deck C. While riding the elevator, the power will temporarily fail and the elevator stops. At this time, several Necromorphs jump down and attack. Once all the Necromorphs are dead, power will be restored and the elevator will arrive at Deck C.

Watch Out for Traps

Upon arriving at Deck C, players will see warnings on the nearby wall that says "BEWARE TRAPS AHEAD". Further down the hallway are red lasers going from wall to wall. Do not touch the red lasers. Between the two sets of traps is a box that can be picked up with kinesis.

Use this box as a shield to block off the lasers. Since there is only one box, players will need to grab the box again and use it to get past the next trap. Up ahead in the next room with a save point is an Infector. Try to kill it as quickly as possible before it turns all the nearby corpses into Necromorphs. In this room is an elevator with no power. Look around for a battery to insert, but watch out for a group of Swarmers that are lurking nearby.

Access Denied

Upon arriving at the Mining Control Room, use the terminal to try and activate the launch tubes. Unfortunately, Isaac is not authorized to use the launch tubes so nothing happens. To fix this, players will need to track down a deck administrator's RIG to open the launch tubes. Follow the locator and go back to the elevator. Once again, players will need to use the box to safely make it past the traps. Once back at the elevator, use it to go to Deck B.

While heading toward the location of an administrator's RIG, there will be a barricade of boxes that can be moved with stasis. There is also a variant of the Slasher Necromorph in this area that has armor on its legs. This armor makes it much more difficult to dismember their legs, so aim for their arms and head instead.

How to Get the Administrator's RIG

Further ahead, players will enter a large room that has no gravity along with a large glowing beam. The administrator's RIG can be found in a small office connected to this area, but it cannot be accessed while there is no gravity. In order to restore gravity, all four chunks of glowing rock in this room must be shot into the glowing beam.

Fly around this chamber and use kinesis to pick up the large chunks of rock, and then launch them into the beam to destroy them. Keep an eye out for Necromorphs while removing the rocks. Once all rocks have been destroyed, go down to the terminal to restore gravity to the area. Once gravity is restored, a large group of Necromorphs will enter the room via the vents. Among these Necromorphs are Exploders, so players will need to be mindful of how close they are to a vent in case an Exploder comes out of one.

Once it is clear, follow the locator to the office that was previously locked. Inside is a horrifically mutilated body next to a RIG. Upon picking up the RIG, players will have their security clearance upgraded to Level 3. From there, start heading back to the elevator. While on the way, look for a door that requires Level 3 security clearance. Inside this room is a Gold Semiconductor which can be sold for Credits.

Find the Beacon

Once back at the elevator, use it to go to Deck D. After a brief cutscene, leave the elevator and continue following the locator. Up ahead are a couple of Infectors and a Guardian that players will need to deal with before they can proceed. Up ahead is a gondola that is stuck. Use kinesis to bring it closer and then use the nearby terminal to go to the other side. While the gondola slowly goes to the other side, keep an eye out for Necromorphs.

When the gondola stops moving, Nicole appears on the other side of the gondola. She offers to help open the door so that Isaac can reach the beacon. Go into the next room, and she will begin typing on a terminal. While she unlocks the door, protect her from Necromorphs. The door unlocks and Nicole leaves.

Before grabbing the beacon, look for a schematic in this next room. This schematic unlocks the Level 4 Suit at the Store and costs 35,000 Credits. When ready, grab the beacon and use the cargo lift in this room to proceed. In order to get back to the elevator, turn off gravity and fly across the area where the gondola is. Use the elevator to go back to Deck C. On the way to Deck C, the power fails and Necromorphs come down to attack again.

Once the elevator reaches Deck C, leave and head back toward the Mining Control Room. With the administrator's RIG, players will now be able to use the terminal to launch the beacon. Unfortunately, it turns out that the system has been sabotaged, and the launch tubes can't be used. Fortunately, Isaac comes up with another idea for launching the beacon out into space. Follow the locator and take the battery near the save point toward the elevator that leads to the Mining Bay.

How to Plant the Beacon

dead-space-remake-chapter-7-walkthrough9

In order to get the SOS beacon out, Dead Space players must attach it to an asteroid that is being held in the Mining Bay. But before that can be done, all four gravity tethers must be destroyed. There are two inside the Mining Bay and then two outside the ship. Look around and move toward each spinning wheel where the gravity tethers are being generated. Slow the wheel with stasis and look for the glowing fuses inside. Shoot the fuse and the tether will fail.

To reach the tethers outside, use stasis on the machine that is moving around the front of the asteroid. Once it is slowed, quickly fly outside. Before destroying the tethers outside, approach the asteroid and plant the beacon onto it. Head over to the two gravity tethers outside and destroy them as well. Before going back inside, make sure to slow the machine moving around the ring to avoid dying. While working on this objective, players must keep an eye out on their oxygen meter. There are no stations for reaching oxygen out here, so players will either need to work fast or periodically go back inside to refresh their meter.

After planting the beacon and removing all the gravity tethers, follow the locator to go back to where the terminal is. On the way, grab the battery and carefully take it with you while dodging all the fire that is now shooting through the walls. Upon reaching the terminal, players will see the option to release Payload 8772 (the asteroid). Use this terminal and the asteroid will go flying out of the Ishimura with the beacon attached to it.

How to Escape Quarantine

dead-space-remake-chapter-7-walkthrough11

From there, follow the locator to go back to the tram station. Along the way, quarantine will activate and the Hunter from the fifth chapter will emerge from one of the vents. This is a problem since quarantine will not lift while the Hunter is still alive and players can't kill it. Hold off the Hunter while Kendra opens the panel for the manual override. When prompted, run over to the override and use kinesis to force quarantine to end.

With the door now unlocked, start running toward the elevator. The Hunter will eventually catch up, so be ready to dismember and slow it with stasis when that happens. Dead Space players are in the clear when they use the elevator to go back up toward the tram station. As the seventh chapter ends and players unlock an achievement/trophy, Kendra and Isaac realize that the Comms Array is still down, so they can't talk to anyone who may find the SOS beacon.

Dead Space is available now on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S.
