Having made it out of the trap in Medical in one piece, Isaac heads to Hydroponics to put a stop to the poisonous gas that is spreading across the Ishimura. The fifth chapter of Dead Space continues the trend of making more noticeable changes to the original game.

In the 2008 version of the game, players had to take out all the Wheezers scattered across Hydroponics. While players will still need to deal with these unique Necromorphs, the method of taking them out has changed. Here is what players can expect as they go through the sixth chapter of Dead Space, Environmental Hazard.

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Go to Hydroponics

Assuming that players are still in Cryogenics, follow the locator to eventually reach the tram station for Hydroponics. Upon arriving, Dead Space players should make sure to lift the lockdown in order to unlock fast travel for Hydroponics. While entering the main hub for Hydropnics, players will see a hologram of Dr. Elizabeth Cross warning survivors to turn back and leave Hydroponics. Keep moving into Hydroponics and look for a terminal in the middle of the next room. Insert the liquid nitrogen into the terminal, and it will be used to make a special enzyme.

With the enzyme, head for the door behind the terminal to try and go into Food Storage. The door is locked, and players get called by Dr. Cross. She explains how the enzyme can be used to kill both the Wheezers and the large Necromorph in Food Storage, the Leviathan. In order to kill the Leviathan, players will need to inject the enzyme into each of the eight Wheezers scattered all over Hydroponics.

Follow the locator to reach the first Wheezer. In the next area, there are devices that spray corrosive acid periodically. Watch the pattern of when they activate/deactivate and move when they are off to avoid taking a lot of damage. There are several side rooms in this area that contain helpful resources and a weapon upgrade. Upon entering a large room, players will get attacked by a wave of Necromorphs.

After dealing with the Necromorphs, look for a door that requires Security Clearance Level 2. Inside this room is the Force Gun, and if players have been following this guide so far they will unlock the achievement/trophy for obtaining all weapons.

The First Wheezer

From here, follow the locator to reach the first Wheezer. Unlike in the original Dead Space, players cannot harm Wheezers by shooting them. Instead, approach them and there will be a prompt to inject them with the enzyme. While the area around a Wheezer isn't a vacuum, the game treats it as one. When players get close to a Wheezer, the Oxygen Meter will activate and then deactivate after the Wheezer is killed.

The Second Wheezer

Once the first Wheezer is neutralized, leave the room and head toward the elevator. Use it to go up to the third floor where the second Wheezer is. In the same room, there is a text log that players can pick up.

The Third Wheezer

Head back to the elevator and use it to go to the second floor. While following the locator to reach this Wheezer, players should keep an eye out for a type of Necromorph called Exploders. As their name implies, Exploders will self-destruct if they get close enough to Isaac. These Necromorphs don't have much health, and their explosive arm can be used against them and other Necromorphs.

Keep following the locator and use kinesis to open the doors in the area with zero gravity. Before approaching the third Wheezer, deal with the Guardian that is right next to it to avoid getting instantly killed. The poisonous gas obscures visibility, so it is easy to not notice the Guardian before it is too late.

The Fourth Wheezer

Move on from the body of the third Wheezer and use the locator to navigate toward the next Wheezer. There are two bodies on the wall that are gradually being turned into Guardians, but players do not need to worry about them. Inject the fourth Wheezer with the enzyme.

The Fifth Wheezer

While moving toward the next Wheezer, players will come across more of that organic growth blocking their path. Look for the glowing blister and shoot it to clear the obstruction. After doing down the cargo lift, look out for the Brute that comes charging in. The strategy for this Brute is the same as previous encounters, so players should make sure to have their stasis meter filled up as much as possible. Once the Brute has been dealt with, follow the locator to reach the fifth Wheezer in a small side room.

The Sixth Wheezer

The sixth Wheezer is on a higher up floor in the same area where the fifth Wheezer was. The problem is that the cargo lift doesn't go up that high, so players will need to turn off gravity in this area of Hydroponics to reach it. Look for a larger side room that contains another Wheezer. This one is technically the eighth Wheezer and players can't reach it yet. On a desk in this room is a Deck Systems Keycard.

Grab this keycard and then look around for a battery that is sitting in a shattered vegetable display. Pick up this battery with Kinesis and take it over to the battery slot next to the circuit breaker.

Once the battery is inserted, players will be able to activate the circuit breaker and use it to turn off gravity for this area. Fly up to the top and look for the sixth Wheezer in one of the corners at the top.

The Seventh Wheezer

Leave this area of Hydroponics and follow the locator to a long hallway. Players will get grabbed by a large tentacle and will have to shoot the glowing weak spot to avoid dying, just like in the third chapter. Once free, move on into a zero gravity area. Along the way, players will come across electrified turbines. Use stasis to get past these hazards and then use the terminal up ahead to deactivate the turbines. Upon exiting zero gravity, players will soon face a new hazard.

To reach the seventh Wheezer, players must go across a series of chambers that unleash a huge wave of fire. While going across these rooms, look for fuses and destroy them to open doors. Players must time when they run to each door to avoid getting set on fire. Once through the fire chambers, go into the nearby side room to find the seventh Wheezer.

The Eighth Wheezer

After killing the seventh Wheezer, there is a nearby elevator. Use it to end up on the other side of the room that had a Wheezer that was out of reach. Once this Wheezer is killed, players will get contacted by Elizabeth. The enzyme wasn't enough to kill the Leviathan, and now they have to find a way to eject it from Food Storage and out into space. Follow the locator to head back to Food Storage and get ready for a fight.

How to Beat the Leviathan

This boss fight is mostly the same as it was in the original 2008 version of Dead Space. The key to surviving this fight is to keep moving to avoid taking damage from the tentacles. When the tentacles emerge, look for the glowing yellow part and shoot at it.

Once enough damage has been done, the Leviathan will open its mouth and there will be a large glowing spot inside that players can shoot. Hit this weak point anytime the Leviathan opens its mouth. As the Leviathan reaches low health, it will fill the chamber with poison gas. At this point, players must kill the Leviathan as fast as possible. Keep shooting the glowing part in the Leviathan's mouth, and it will eventually get dislodged and be sent off into space. Players will get an achievement/trophy upon beating the Leviathan. After the Leviathan is gone, head back out of Food Storage and Dr. Cross will contact players. Once she is done talking, the sixth chapter comes to a close.
