In the previous chapter of Dead Space, Isaac was able to salvage the Singularity Core from the USM Valor. Unfortunately, this came with a terrible cost and now Isaac and Kendra are the only remaining survivors of the USG Kellion repair team. The condition of the USG Ishimura is getting worse, and it is only a matter of time before they are overwhelmed by the Necromorph outbreak.

In the tenth chapter, 'End of Days', players must explore the Crew Deck and look for the shuttle that can be used to escape from the USG Ishimura. Here is what Dead Space players can expect as they go through the tenth chapter.

This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Find the Crew Deck Keycard

Getting to the shuttle will not be easy, as players are completely blocked off by countless tendrils of that organic growth growing all over the USG Ishimura. Not only that, but the way forward requires a Crew Deck Keycard. Follow the locator and leave the room filled with bodies. Take a quick detour into the Standard Bathroom and look around for a schematic for the Level 5 Suit. This suit upgrade will cost 60,000 Credits, but it provides 20% damage reduction along with increasing inventory size, so players will definitely want to grab this schematic and take it to a nearby store.

In order to get into the room where the Crew Deck Keycard is, players will need to grab the battery that is floating around in the Z-Ball court. Take the battery and plug it into the nearby slot outside the court to gain access to a small room where the Crew Deck Keycard can be found.

Unlock the Door

With the Crew Deck Keycard in hand, go back to the main room with all the bodies in it. At this point, two Infectors will enter the room. Since there are a lot of dead bodies in here, players will want to kill the Infectors as fast as possible to avoid getting completely overwhelmed.

On the other side of the door, players will soon enter a cutscene. After the cutscene, follow the locator and run away from the Hunter. As in previous chapters, dismember it completely and then slow it with stasis to buy time to escape.

Shortly after escaping from the Hunter, players may notice that the objective appears in Marker script for a little while. The message says: "Turn it off". This is intended to be a reference to Dead Space 3 and has nothing to do with the current objective.

Destroy the Tendrils

The way forward is blocked by tendrils that go all over the Crew Deck. Dead Space players will need to look for glowing blisters along the tendrils to destroy them. When in doubt, use the locator to figure out where to go next and look around for glowing blisters to shoot. This will also help open paths forward.

Along the way, players will need to take a battery and insert it into the socket to restore power to a door. This leads to the Deluxe Crew Quarters, where another tendril can be found and destroyed. When this tendril gets destroyed, the Hunter will show up and players will have to run from it once again. Continue onward to the Executive Quarters to destroy another tendril. To destroy it, look for a glowing blister in the bathroom. The Executive Quarters will go under quarantine shortly after, so players will need to deal with the Necromorphs first.

Speak with Dr. Kyne

The final blister that needs to be destroyed in this area is in a room with Dr. Kyne. Before players can access it, there is a brief cutscene of Dr. Kyne asking for Isaac to help him get the Marker back down to Aegis VII as allegedly it will put an end to the Necromorph outbreak. Once the cutscene is over, players will be able to go into the room and destroy the final blister on the tendril.

Conveniently, destroying all the tendrils also gives players access to the Marker. After killing some Necromorphs, use the loader to move the Marker out of this area and toward the shuttle. Head through the door that leads to the shuttle.

The first step is to go onboard the shuttle and install the Singularity Core. After that, go to the terminal inside the small chamber overlooking the shuttle and use it to test fire the engines on the shuttle.

How to Beat the Hunter

Dr. Mercer's creation has been harassing players since the fifth chapter, and now it is time to finally deal with it for good. The Hunter will jump out once the engines have been test fired. In order to beat the Hunter, lure it to the back of the shuttle where the engines are. Completely dismember it and then use stasis to freeze it in place. Quickly run back into the side room and use the terminal to test fire the engines again. If the Hunter is behind the shuttle, the engines will completely incinerate it. Other Necromorphs will spawn during this fight, so players may want to deal with them first before luring the Hunter behind the shuttle.

Once players attempt to go back into the shuttle, a cutscene will play. Once the cutscene is over, players will need to aim at the tentacle that is dragging them along to avoid getting killed. Shortly after this, the tenth chapter will end, and the eleventh chapter will begin.

Dead Space is available now on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S.
