EA Motive's upcoming Dead Space Remake is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and it's only a few days away. In a matter of hours, fans will finally be able to relive one of gaming's best nightmares, now in more gruesome detail than ever. The original Dead Space is still widely considered to be one of the best horror games ever made, with terrifying enemies, an incredible atmosphere, and an intuitive and satisfying combat system. That original game was so good, in fact, that many of its fans set out to grab every achievement and trophy in the game, despite some being a little heinous.

The Dead Space Remake's trophy list has just leaked online, and thankfully, getting the Platinum this time around seems a lot easier than it did in 2008. But that's not to say it'll be a breeze either, as though the Dead Space Remake has dropped some of the 2008 original's most egregious trophies, it's also added a few of its own into the mix, some of which could be enough to leave the player shaking in their space boots.

For the most part, the Dead Space Remake's trophy list is a pretty standard AAA affair. Players get rewarded with a shiny new trophy for every chapter they complete, there are some trophies linked with certain milestones like killing enemies with certain weapons, and there are a few trophies based on finding all the game's collectibles. In fact, the list is extremely similar to the original 2008 Dead Space's, with most trophies even sharing the same names as well as objectives.

However, the Dead Space Remake does have its fair share of brand-new trophies, with those marked in bold being either completely fresh additions or trophies that have been changed slightly from their original 2008 counterpart. Some of the biggest additions to the Dead Space Remake are the introduction of a New Game Plus mode and an Impossible difficulty setting. These two trophies mean that at least two playthroughs are needed in order to obtain the game's Platinum trophy. Trophies linked with difficulty have started to become much less common in the gaming industry as they tend to put off those who aren't die-hard fans, and more importantly, act as a barrier for those with accessibility needs.

On the whole, Dead Space Remake's trophy list shares some major similarities with the 2008 original, with the original having just one more trophy. However, there are some pretty big, and welcome, changes for the remake. One of Dead Space's most infamous trophies, "Don't Get Cocky, Kid," has been removed from the remake. This trophy tasked players with surviving the ADS canon section with over half health, which was practically impossible. The Dead Space Remake has also simplified and streamlined quite a few of the original's more difficult trophies as well. The "Crackshot" trophy, for instance, which required players to get a perfect score on the shooting range, has been changed to "Front Toward Enemy," which requires players to simply survive the sequence. Generally speaking, aside from the Impossible difficulty trophy, Dead Space Remake's trophy list actually seems much easier than its 2008 counterpart, with most objectives being easily achieved by simply progressing through the game naturally.

One of the more interesting changes to the trophy list that fans have spotted is the Dead Space Remake's "Reunion" trophy, apparently tasking the player with seeing an alternate ending for the game on any difficulty. While the Dead Space Remake will presumably still be extremely similar to its 2008 original, it seems as though EA Motive is adding in or shaking up a few of the game's plot beats to keep die-hard fans on their toes, and this alternate ending seems to be one of these changes. Hopefully players won't have to dig too hard to find out how to achieve this alternate ending when Dead Space Remake releases on January 27, 2023.

Dead Space launches on January 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
