Electronics Arts has just released a 90-minute demo of the Dead Space remake on Steam, which is available for all users who don’t own it. Dead Space is often hailed as one of the best games of the year, and the time-limited demo may give players a chance to get a taste of it before they decide if they want to buy it.

The 2023 remake of Dead Space had a lot to prove. It was a full remake of a classic game over a decade later, and fans had pretty high expectations regarding both its fidelity to the original and quality of life improvements. Fortunately, it met them for the most part, recreating the horror aesthetics of the original title very well and offering a fairly immersive experience which even improved the game’s original design. Due to this success, Dead Space sits comfortably at around 87 to 89 on Metacritic at the moment, depending on the platform.

Now, gamers will get a chance to play one of the highest-rated games of 2023 for 90 minutes to see if they like it. The Dead Space remake is currently available for free on Steam, and it will continue to be for the next two weeks, being removed only on May 29. Gamers may access the whole game in the demo, with the only real limitation being the time they can play. The demo is a good method for players to see if the game runs well on their computers, and whether they enjoy the gameplay or not.

Dead Space Remake Gameplay

At the time of this report, Dead Space was being sold at a 20% discount, costing $48, down from the full price of $60. However, gamers who want to know more about the franchise and don’t have much money to spare can access similar titles if they subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. At the moment, all three original Dead Space games are available on Game Pass via EA Play, although the remake is not included, and must be purchased separately.

Players who don’t wish to play the remake or even the sequels, but want a more old-school experience instead can choose to play the Dead Space demake. This unofficial project, which is free, demakes the original Dead Space with PS1 graphics. The game is entirely playable by now, and it’s an incredible pick for retro gamers who want to try out the game from an entirely new perspective.

Dead Space is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
