EA Motive really hit it out of the park earlier this year with Dead Space, a ground up remake of the 2008 survival horror classic. This reimagining took everything that made the original such a hit, while adding new slice of life improvements and a dazzling visual upgrade. Naturally, with two other Dead Space games in the mainline series left to remake, fans are eager to see just how EA Motive will handle these projects whenever they roll around.

At the same time though, EA Motive is also hard at work on a video game based on the popular Marvel superhero, Iron Man, and such a project will likely take up a lot of the studio's resources and man-power. Although there is no confirmed release date yet for Iron Man, it may still be a couple of years away before players can wear Tony Stark's suit and take to the skies. Because of this, it may delay the production of future remakes to be released years apart. For this reason, it may be more beneficial to skip ahead and fast track a fourth installment.

EA Motive Has A Busy Production Schedule

As fantastic and polished as the Dead Space remake was, the skeleton of the game was still very much ripped from the 2008 original. Many of the locations and scenarios had been seen before, and while having a stunning glow up this time around, for all intents and purposes was still the same game. This familiarity is by no means a bad thing; it is just the inherent nature of what a remake is -- taking a pre-existing piece of media and updating it to fit into modern sensibilities.

That being said, even remaking a game is a daunting process and can take multiple years to complete. With two more Dead Space games to get to and Iron Man as well, it's a lot for even the most talented and robust studio to take on. Iron Man is probably still early in development and factoring in that each remake may take two to three years each, a Dead Space remake trilogy may not be completed until the late 2020s at the earliest.

As an alternative, it may be wise for EA Motive to skip ahead and just begin development on a brand-new fourth entry to the Dead Space franchise. After all, ever since Dead Space 3 was released way back in 2013, fans have been clamoring for another entry in what is considered one of the best survival horror video game franchises of all time. With the Dead Space remake having successfully reintroduced the series to modern players, it's the perfect time to get a fourth game into production sooner rather than later.

In the place of EA Motive completely remaking the remaining two Dead Space games, and as a means to provide new players a way to experience these games, simpler remastered ports would do the job just fine. Despite more than a decade old, both Dead Space sequels still hold up remarkably well both visually and in terms of gameplay, standing tall among the many iconic games from the seventh generation of consoles.

This scenario seems like the best outcome for all parties involved. Players will get to see all of these games sooner, and the employees of EA Motive will have a less strenuous workload to deal with in the years ahead. While remakes of all the classic titles would be nice, a fourth game is what many fans truly want. After getting a glimpse at what Dead Space can look like on PS5 and Xbox Series X, an all new installment with the same love and care would be a real treat.

Dead Space is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
