Earlier this year, Dead Cells announced one of the biggest updates to the massively popular rogue metroidvania dubbed the "Everyone is Here" update, coined from the tagline used famously by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The update features characters and references to some of the most popular indie titles of recent years like Hollow Knight and Guacamelee with the games featured being slowly announced over the course of the year.

Dead Cells was first released by indie studio Motion Twin in August of 2018 and was an immediate hit with both fans and critics alike for its fast-paced gameplay combining many of the best elements of its contemporaries. The game won several awards following its release including Best Action Game at the 2018 Game Awards and has sold over five million copies as of March of 2021. Fans were understandably excited when Motion Twin announced the massive Everyone is Here crossover earlier this year and, now, the wait is officially over as Skul, The Knight, and many more officially join the Dead Cells roster.

Motion Twin's official Twitter account announced Monday morning that the Everyone is Here update for Dead Cells is officially live on consoles. The game's 26th update adds characters and cameos from a selection of popular indie games like Blasphemous, Curse of the Dead Gods, Guacamelee, Hollow Knight, Hyper Light Drifter, and Skul. The flashy trailer for the update shows off some of the new characters in action like Skul's titular protagonist and a costume inspired by Hollow Knight's main character. Motion Twin also mentioned that Dead Cells is still discounted by 40% on most digital stores.

The crossover-filled update is the most recent in a steady stream of content Dead Cells has received since the game's initial launch. The game has received two paid DLC updates and multiple free updates over its three-year lifespan with the most recent paid DLC, Fatal Falls, released earlier this year adding two new biomes as well as a new boss fight. Thankfully for fans looking to bring their favorite indie games into Dead Cells, the 'Everyone is Here' update is completely free.

Motion Twin has been teasing fans with details from the highly-anticipated Everyone is Here update since early in November through the official Dead Cells Twitter account. Motion Twin slowly revealed more characters coming to the massive crossover over the course of the month with Hollow Knight being revealed last week as the final franchise of the six to be joining Dead Cells. Motion Twin has built Dead Cells into one of the most popular metroidvanias in the gaming industry and its most recent collaboration should look to maintain its success well into the future.

Dead Cells is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and mobile devices.
