Dead by Daylight has updated its Year 7 roadmap and will be adding several new features over the coming months. Though 2023 was yet another massive year for Dead by Daylight, the game will go above and beyond by trying to add even more new content before it turns eight years old in June.

At the start of each new year for the game, which begins during the anniversary broadcast in June, Dead by Daylight presents players with a rough roadmap of what to expect throughout the next calendar year. Beginning in June 2022, Year 7 of Dead by Daylight introduced the Dredge, one of the most visually impressive killers on its ever-expanding roster, before developing preexisting characters through several new tomes. The following two chapters featured iconic heroes and villains from the Resident Evil franchise and original content created by Behaviour themselves.

The Year 7 roadmap has now been updated, and tells players to expect improvements to perks, accessibility, the Bloodweb, bots, and map visuals in addition to a brand-new chapter coming in March 2023. The current Dead by Daylight meta has serious problems, and simple changes to oppressive perks such as eruption and call of brine would do much to alleviate this issue. The Bloodweb has also been a major source of contention ever since the bloodpoint cap was raised to two million, with one player calculating that it takes over 16 hours in the Bloodweb to reach prestige 100 on a character. Though the Bloodweb changes are not currently concrete, Behaviour promise that they will "make it easier and faster to spend your Bloodpoints than ever before."

Several large changes will also be coming to maps. Firstly, Behaviour will continue to upgrade older maps visually as part of its "The Realm Beyond"project that began in 2021. Perhaps more notably, the game will also introduce a mechanic to prevent players from ever getting the same map twice in a row, while also slightly reducing the odds of getting it again if you played on it recently. This change will help with map variety and ensure that killers don't find themselves playing exclusively on maps that favor survivors. Further changes include an optional visual indicator for the terror radius as part of ongoing accessibility changes, and the option to equip bots with perks during custom matches.

With the Moonlight Burrow Lunar New Year event underway and so many changes to come before June 2023, there is no time like the present to get into Dead by Daylight. Even if the changes themselves aren't quite your cup of tea, the promise of a brand-new chapter coming in March is enough to get anyone excited.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
