Dead By Daylight is bringing back its Twisted Masquerade event to celebrate the game's 8th anniversary. This year's version will mark the Twisted Masquerade's third consecutive year, and in May, Dead By Daylight kicked off Before the Masquerade, a pre-event lasting until the commencement of the Twisted Masquerade itself on June 13. Twisted Masquerade 2024 brings several new changes to Dead By Daylight's gameplay mechanics, while also introducing new cosmetics, including outfits and masks.

After the release of Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons, Dead By Daylight introduced Vecna, also known as The Lich. Now that the Twisted Masquerade event has started, players logging in for the first time will be rewarded with a one-time login Reward, giving them enough Event Currency to purchase one Event Outfit. The Event Tome will also reset with new Survivor and Killer challenges, offering the opportunity to unlock event-specific cosmetics and charms. Masks from previous Twisted Masquerades will be available to purchase from the in-game store for the duration of the event.

Dead By Daylight: 9 Killers With The Best Backstories

The Killers of Dead by Daylight possess a wealth of interesting and often tragic backstories, as the following examples illustrate.

Dead By Daylight's Twisted Masquerade will feature earnable outfits for The Unknown, Bill Overbeck, as well as a limited-time store outfit called "Masquerade Piggy" for Amanda Young, also known as The Pig. For the first time ever, a character called Tryks — the Host of the Twisted Masquerade who also goes by the name Jezabel — will be appearing as an NPC in Trials. As always, Props such as Generators, Hooks, and Lockers will be themed after the event, and golden marionettes will be floating above the ground in every maps. A new Offering called the Screech Gobbler will increase the number of chests, reveal the Aura of Invitation Scrolls, and award 108% bonus Bloodpoints to players. Additional event-themed items include a Flashlight, Med-Kit, and Toolbox, as seen in previous years. Dead By Daylight has been more ambitious with its add-ons recently, as seen with the recent Lights Out event.

Twisted Masquerade 2024 Introduces the NPC Tryks (Jezabel)

The character of Tryks has been mentioned in lore entries during previous Twisted Masquerade events, but she has never been featured in Dead By Daylight until now. Lore is a big deal in Dead By Daylight and Jezabel is said to be a huge fan of the Entity, hosting the Twisted Masquerade annually in its honor. She is not a playable Killer, but instead appears randomly throughout the Trial to encourage Survivors and Killers to enjoy the festivities during. As a first for the Twisted Masquerade event, players can choose whether to engage in the gameplay in a separate lobby queue. If not, players can continue regular Trials without all the glitz and glamor.

A new gameplay mechanic called Bag of Tryks will trigger at the beginning of the Trial and once more after a Survivor is hooked or a Generator is completed. Bag of Tryks adds various special effects to characters and disables them during the Endgame Collapse. As in previous years, the Dead By Daylight event features Masquerade Pillars complete with Invitation Scrolls that grant one Token per Scroll towards the Event Ability, which can spawn pallets, imbue characters with temporary Endurance, and more. Twisted Masquerades typically run until mid-July, so players have a whole month to enjoy the party.
