Bloodpoints are one of Dead by Daylight's three player currencies, and arguably the most useful of them, since the rewards for spending Bloodpoints actually impact gameplay. Bloodpoints allow players to purchase perks, offerings, items, and add-ons from their Bloodweb, and making enough purchases per Bloodweb level allows players to level up their characters.

Players should understand the best and fastest ways to earn Bloodpoints in Dead by Daylight so they can make the most of their games. With more Bloodpoints, both killers and survivors can purchase game-changing items, offerings, add-ons, and perks, all while leveling up their characters as quickly as possible.

8 Survivor: Be Altruistic

Altruism pays off in Dead by Daylight; after all, altruism points make up an entire scoring category for survivors. Players who go out of their way to heal, unhook and take protection hits for other players will quickly rack up max altruism points, so survivors should be sure to look out for other members of their team during each trial. Being a team player is also a great way to avoid being seen as toxic.

Healing other players boosts your score, but it's valuable as a strategy, too; lending a helping hand is key to winning the game as a survivor. Strong survivor perks like Empathy, Botany Knowledge, We're Gonna Live Forever and Bite the Bullet can help survivors find one another and heal more efficiently.

7 Killer: Don't Camp And Tunnel

Focusing on only one survivor all game, a controversial strategy also known as "tunneling," can sometimes be tempting, but it's rarely the way to go for players who want to maximize their Bloodpoint gains. Killer players will earn more points in the Hunter category for initiating chases with multiple survivors while hooking one survivor, camping them, and waiting for them to die will result in very few. While camping and tunneling are sometimes viable strategies, they don't work well for gaining Bloodpoints - and on stronger killers like The Blight, camping usually just isn't necessary.

6 Both: Complete Daily Rituals

Dead by Daylight Daily Rituals

As the name implies, players receive a new daily ritual each day, and they are allowed to have three daily rituals equipped at once. Players can also remove one daily ritual per day if they don't plan on completing it, and it will immediately be replaced with another ritual, usually for a different character.

Still, daily rituals usually award players with a meaty 30,000 Bloodpoints for completing them, so it's worth it for most players to switch to a character they don't usually play just to complete a daily ritual. Daily rituals for survivors usually involve escaping or opening an exit gate as the specified survivor, while killer challenges usually require players to use their power a certain number of times in-game.

5 Survivor: Don't Rely On Hiding

Though Dead by Daylight was originally intended to be a hide-and-seek horror game, hiding isn't the best strategy to win as a survivor anymore. In fact, it grants very few Bloodpoints. Staying in the killer's vicinity without getting caught offers players a few Boldness points, but little else. It also isn't usually the most strategic play.

Lying low can be the best move while healing, injured, or before attempting to make a flashlight save, but otherwise, players should focus on objectives. If the killer catches a survivor out, they can maximize point gains by playing around pallets and windows. Aggressive plays like flashlight blinds and pallet stuns reward even more points.

4 Both: Use Bloodpoint Offerings

Killer Offerings Dead by Daylight

Bloodpoint offerings are one of the best ways to boost Bloodpoint gains and a great way to spend Bloodpoints, since players can choose the best offerings for their playstyle or preferred killer.

Some Bloodpoint offerings benefit the whole team and stack, making Bloodpoint offerings one of the best ways to earn Bloodpoints fast. Teams of four survivors can stack Bloody Party Streamers for up to 400% gains - if the killer happens to play one, too, all players can get five times the amount of Bloodpoints. Event Bloodpoint offerings grant even more points; for example, Sacrificial Cakes and Gruesome Gateaus from the anniversary events net players 105% and 104% bonus Bloodpoints respectively - and they stack!

Some of the best non-event related Bloodpoint offerings players should keep an eye out for in their Bloodweb are as follows:

  • Bloody Party Streamers: Grants 100% bonus Bloodpoints in all Categories to all Players.
  • Bound Envelope: Grants 25% bonus Bloodpoints in all Categories to all Survivors.
  • Escape! Cake: Grants 100% bonus Bloodpoints in all categories. (Survivor)
  • Survivor Pudding: Grants 100% bonus Bloodpoints in all categories. (Killer)

3 Killer: Use Powers Often

All killers gain a point boost when they successfully use their power; others, like Pyramid Head, gain points in the Deviousness category or when using their power in any form. Players should make good use of their killer power, using it fairly often to land hits, since it nets more points than basic attacks. The Nurse is a great choice for players who hope to gain Bloodpoints for using their power since she lands almost all of her hits using her single, simple power of teleportation.

Some other killers even gain Bloodpoints for passive benefits from their power. For example, The Nightmare gains points when survivors fall asleep, and The Pig gains bonus points when a survivor dies from a bear trap she installed on them earlier in the trial. Using these killers can help players gain more points without even trying.

2 Both: Use Perks That Boost Bloodpoints

Similar to Bloodpoint offerings, certain perks for both killers and survivors can significantly boost the number of Bloodpoints earned per trial. Killers should try using The Cannibal's perk, Barbecue & Chili, which grants killers a 25% bonus overall Bloodpoints each time they hook a survivor for the first time.

Survivors, on the other hand, can use David King's teachable perk, We're Gonna Live Forever, to gain a 25% bonus overall Bloodpoints each time they complete an altruistic interaction. These stacks can add up quickly, sometimes resulting in bonus Bloodpoint gains of 100%.

1 Both: Complete Tome And Archive Challenges

Dead by Daylight Tome

Grabbing a challenge from the current Tome or from the Archives can help players net far more Bloodpoints than they would in typical matches. Some challenges are easy, awarding a few as 10,000 Bloodpoints, while others require more tricky feats to pull off but offer players up to 65,000 Bloodpoints.

Completing levels in the Archives also gives players special charms and unlocks more lore, for those who are interested in an extra collectible bonus. Survivor and killer challenges are often separate and players can only equip one at a time, so players should always check before starting a trial to ensure they have equipped a challenge they're actively making progress toward.

Dead by Daylight is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, PC, and Google Stadia.
