The Executioner, Onryo, and more Dead by Daylight killers are being changed in an update that will be released this summer. As Dead by Daylight continues to gain in popularity, Behaviour Interactive adjusts the survivors, perks, levels, and more, with the summer update expected to offer several noteworthy alterations.

Dead by Daylight was first released in 2016, but because Behaviour Interactive regularly evolves upon the game's foundations, it has reached the top 20 most-played games on Steam. Many popular Twitch streamers like Otzdarva, Matthew Santoro, and Ohmwrecker also keep Dead by Daylight near the top-viewed games on the platform. As each Dead by Daylight update tends to draw in lapsed players, the contents of the big summer patch will likely bring some fans back to the game.

Teasing that the aforementioned summer update is releasing with the next big Dead by Daylight event, Behaviour Interactive has confirmed some changes to Dead by Daylight's Onryo, Executioner, Spirit, and Hag. The Onryo will receive the most attention in the summer update like the Projection ability, cursed tapes, demanifestation, and debuffs to the highest and buffs to the lowest tier add-ons. The Projection ability has an added 15-second cooldown to offset the Condemned effect which sees its own alterations, with cursed tapes seemingly playing more of a role after the patch goes live.

The Executioner will see an improvement to its built-in mechanic preventing it from standing too close to cages with survivors in them, while The Hag and Spirit in Dead by Daylight are only seeing adjustments to add-ons like the Mint Rag and Dried Cherry Blossom respectively. Killers and survivors will both be helped or hurt by adjustments to perks like Claustrophobia, Trail of Torment, and Prove Thyself which may cause some players to switch which ones they prioritize. As promised by the Dead by Daylight Anniversary broadcast, Behaviour Interactive is beginning its revisiting of old maps with Coldwind Farm, which is being modernized to be more comparable to newer maps like Toba Landing.

Although Behaviour Interactive has stated that these changes are part of the upcoming summer update, it remains unclear when the Dead by Daylight patch will drop. Given that many of the tweaks are inspired by fan feedback, there may be even more requests that Behaviour Interactive implements in future Dead by Daylight updates.

Dead by Daylight is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
