Behaviour Interactive has just announced various quality-of-life changes in its famed asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight via its January 2023 Developer Update. Dead by Daylight has been around for over six years, and it has had its share of growing pains and various achievements. What started out as a game with a small starting roster, limited repetitive maps, and unbalanced mechanics, has now turned into one of the biggest success stories in asymmetrical gaming. However, with continued growth comes the need to update and alter certain mechanics to improve the game's ecosystem.Behaviour Interactive has just released their January 2023 Developer Update which details a lot of small improvements to make the game more accessible to both old and new players. While the recent changes for the Dead by Daylight Map Eyrie of Crows and nerfing of the Nurse killer were already discussed, a lot of new information was addressed which will affect gameplay in a different manner.RELATED: Dead by Daylight Players Are Not Liking The Game's Newest KillerVarious visual changes will be altered in regard to the Survivor's gameplay HUD. Current actions and status will now be displayed beside character portraits to allow Dead by Daylight survivors to better assess how they interact with teammates. Wiggle mechanics which were formerly in the beta phase will be officially integrated into the game albeit with a few tweaks. Another welcome change is the optional in-game display of rift challenges for better tracking. Even small things such as browsing the store and archives will now be doable during queuing which is a much-needed time-saving improvement.

Halfway through 2022, Dead by Daylight adjusted progression and prestige mechanics which has led to a massive overhaul of spending habits in-game. This time around, the option to purchase all non-licensed outfits using Iridescent Shards will be introduced and in addition, Merciless Killer ratings will now be tied to the number of kills made in-match allowing for a clearer definition.

Allowing players to check out the archives or the store during a queue could encourage gamers to spend some shards or so thereby creating a healthy ecosystem. Perhaps it also ties up to the added incentive of modified prices and the previously mentioned option to purchase previously non-purchasable non-licensed outfits. Dead by Daylight encourages players to be original with various available cosmetics and this adjustment could prove beneficial for the developers. All in all, the announcements sound like Behaviour Interactive is on the right path to catering to fans' requests which could lead to a renewed interest in the game.

Dead by Daylight is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
