Behaviour Interactive's multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight has become something of an online staple, especially in the streaming community. With its continued approach to creating a crossover between survival gaming and horror franchises, such as recent news that the game will be adding characters from the Resident Evil universe, it's a series that is arguably going to continue being popular for a while. Now a recent update says further changes are coming.

Behaviour Interactive has indicated that one of the systems in Dead by Daylight, the Memento Mori feature, will be revamped and implemented into the game at some point. While there's no statement saying when this update will arrive, it's currently in the early stages of development and will look at the removing the Killer characters having to make an offering at the start of each round in order to benefit from the system.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with the game, the Memento Mori system allows those who are playing as one of the many Killers, such as Ghost Face, the Hillbilly, or The Trickster, to end the match early by making an offering at the start in order to be able to pull off each character's signature kill move on a Survivor. However, Behaviour Interactive is looking to make a few changes to it.

In its current state, it seems that some players become frustrated with the Memento Mori system, partly because making an offering before the round begins does not guarantee the Killer will be able to pull off their signature move. Design Director, Matt S, has said the studio is looking to address some of these issues. As a result, Dead by Daylight, which will be celebrating its fifth anniversary next month, will be considering an approach in which Killers will be able to trigger the Mori system without having to play an offering in the first instance.

The studio has also said in the past that it may be looking to add additional Mori kills to the game. With many killers to choose from in Dead by Daylight, this alteration which will be coming out at some point and should hopefully ease the frustrations even though it will mean gamers playing as the Killer will potentially have to earn their kill rather than be given the opportunity by playing an offering at the start. This way, signature kills will arguably be a more natural part of the game.

Dead by Daylight is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
