For gamers playing as a Survivor in Dead by Daylight, the game is all about trying to stay alive by avoiding the Killer hunting them down. Players have access to all sorts of useful perks that can help them stay stealthy, and avoid the Killer's attention, such as Iron Will. Unfortunately, for some Survivors, these perks are almost a necessity.

Some Dead by Daylightcharacters are so loud that playing them is almost a detriment to the player's gameplay. They're much easier to track down, and can often give away the player's hiding spots. For players wanting to stay as stealthy as possible, they should try to avoid playing as these Survivors.

10 Meg Thomas

Dead by Daylight Meg

Meg is one of the original four Survivors in Dead by Daylight and has made herself a firm fan favorite, despite how loud she is. Meg has some of the loudest breathing in the game, making her easy to track even when she's healthy.

She also makes plenty of exertion noises while running, vaulting obstacles, or performing certain actions, which makes her incredibly easy to track down. When injured, Meg somehow becomes louder than she was before, making it almost impossible to stay sneaky against a Killer with some common sense.

9 Rebecca Chambers

Dead by Daylight Rebecca

Considering Rebecca's experience working as a STARS agent, she clearly hasn't discovered the importance of staying stealthy. Rebecca is incredibly loud when she's injured, making it difficult for Rebecca players to lose the Killer when they're on her tail, or to stay hidden whilst they're vulnerable.

While she can quite easily attract the Killer's attention, this could be seen as a positive for more confident players. Players can use Rebecca to serve as a distraction, allowing their teammates to continue with their objectives while the Killer is focused on Rebecca instead.

8 Steve Harrington

Dead by Daylight Steve

Steve first arrived in Dead by Daylight in 2019 as part of the Stranger Things Chapter. Unfortunately, as of 17 November 2021, the Stranger Things content is no longer available to purchase, so newer players cannot purchase Steve. Players who were lucky enough to nab him whilst they could will find that he does have a pretty serious downside - he's remarkably loud.

As undeniably cool as he is, players will find they're at a pretty big disadvantage playing Steve and may have to put some stealthier perks on, such as Iron Will, to keep him quiet.

7 Laurie Strode

Dead by Daylight Laurie

Despite being able to survive numerous encounters with Michael Myers, Laurie apparently hasn't learned how important it is to keep quiet. When she's injured, Laurie lets out some very loud screams and cries that can easily catch the attention of the killer.

Even when she's healthy, Laurie's vocalizations during actions such as running, vaulting, and standing idle are somewhat louder compared to other survivors. This makes Laurie a pretty poor pick for players looking for a Survivor that will help them stay off the Killer's radar. Players wanting to stay quiet with Laurie should look into finding a good stealthy build to use on her.

6 Leon S. Kennedy

Dead by Daylight Leon

Leon in particular is notorious in the Dead by Daylight community for being incredibly loud whilst he's injured. This can be a serious detriment for the player if they're trying to avoid being caught by the Killer. In fact, Leon is so loud when he's injured that the Killer will be able to hear him quite clearly hiding in a locker.

Considering his many experiences as an RPD cop and agent throughout the Resident Evil games, players would expect him to be a little bit more stealthy in a life or deaths scenario.

5 Feng Min

Dead by Daylight Feng-1

Feng has been causing trouble for players who want to play stealthy since her release back in 2017. She's undoubtedly one of the loudest Survivors in Dead by Daylight, but that hasn't stopped her from becoming a fan-favorite character. Feng's Unique Perks are great for players looking to stay away from the Killer, and if they're playing Feng, they probably should.

Alert in particular is good as it allows players to see the Killer's aura for a few seconds whenever the Killer damages a generator or pallet, which allows the player to strategically position themselves out of the Killer's earshot.

4 Jane Romero

Dead by Daylight Jane-1

Jane is one of the loudest female Survivors in Dead by Daylight. She makes a lot of noise whilst she's healthy, whether she's running around or just crouched in place. Jane also makes a lot of noise whilst she's injured, making it almost impossible to play Jane stealthily, unless players bring certain perks to make her quieter.

Jane's Unique Perks don't particularly help players stay stealthy, although Poised does have some merit. Every time a Generator is completed, the perk will make the player lose their scratch marks for a few seconds. This could allow the player to make some ground on the Killer, and keep them out of earshot.

3 William 'Bill' Overbeck

Dead by Daylight Bill-1

Left 4 Dead fans were left delighted when William 'Bill' Overbeck was added to Dead by Daylight in 2017. Unfortunately, this old soldier clearly doesn't understand the importance of stealth. His gruff breathing, heavy footsteps and physical exertion make him pretty easy for Killers to locate.

Even using perks to quiet down his pained grunts won't really help, as he's still incredibly loud whilst he's healthy. Bill is remarkably vocal, and this makes him an easy target for Killers to find. Players who would rather try to stay stealthy should try and avoid playing as Bill until they're a bit more confident in their abilities to take a chase.

2 Ashley J. Williams

Dead by Daylight Ash

Ash is an incredibly loud Survivor in Dead by Daylight. He can be heard loudly grunting during actions such as repairing generators or healing, and is even louder when he's injured. However, Ash's loudness could be seen as a double-edged sword.

Whilst it can attract the Killer's attention, the player can use this to allow the other survivors to work on Generators undisturbed. However, players who aren't too confident taking heat from the Killer may want to avoid Ash, as he's pretty hard to miss.

1 Jeff Johansen

Dead by Daylight Jeff-1

Jeff is the loudest Survivor in Dead by Daylight. He's noisy when he's running, he's noisy when he's injured, and he's even noisy when he's just stood still. Poor Jeff is the complete opposite of stealth. For players who love Jeff, but don't want to be disadvantaged by his noisy nature, his Unique Perk 'Distortion' is great at keeping the Killer far enough away that they won't be able to hear him.

The perk will hide the player's aura from the Killer, meaning Jeff players can remain comfortably hidden on the other side of the map, and the Killer won't know a thing.

Dead by Daylight is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
