Highlights

  • The Iron Maiden collaboration in Dead by Daylight focused solely on introducing new cosmetics, with no impact on gameplay.
  • The Legion killer was noticeably left out of the event, missing the chance for Iron Maiden-themed outfits, a missed opportunity.
  • The possibility of Iron Maiden hoodies for The Legion could have been a standout addition, enhancing their overall design in the game.

The Iron Maiden crossover in Dead by Daylight brought in a lot of great content, but there was one killer whose lack of content was a missed opportunity. Of course, the chance to collect cosmetics in Dead by Daylight is one of the draws of the game's many events. It's not surprising for fans of a Killer or Survivor to be disappointed when they go without something new. However, there was one omission from the Iron Maiden collection that would have been perfect for a cosmetic. It might be one of Dead by Daylight's biggest missed opportunities in that department.

Unlike many Dead by Daylight events, the Iron Maiden crossover is unique in that it doesn't have any effect on the trials at all. The main menu theme is one of the coolest that the game has seen, complete with Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark" playing on the main menu. However, there are no new gameplay gimmicks and the trial maps have not been changed. Instead, the event exists solely in the form of the new cosmetics that were introduced during the event. Thankfully, these cosmetics turned out to be a fantastic set of additions to a Dead by Daylight player's wardrobe.

The Legion Was Left Out of Dead by Daylight's Iron Maiden Event

Dead by Daylight's Iron Maiden Collaboration Was a Treasure Trove of Cool Cosmetics

The reason why Dead by Daylight's Iron Maiden collaboration went over so well is because of the selection of cosmetics. First off, there were four Killers who got new outfits based on Iron Maiden's mascot, Eddie:

  • Eddie's Tribute (The Dredge)
  • Pharaoh Eddie (The Doctor)
  • Stranger Eddie (The Deathslinger)
  • Samurai Eddie (The Oni)

In addition to these killer skins, every non-licensed Survivor also received an Iron Maiden T-shirt out of the collaboration. Overall, the event introduced plenty of cool cosmetics. However, for all of the good things about the event, there is one killer that was ultimately left out in the cold.

The Legion Got Nothing From Dead by Daylight's Iron Maiden Crossover

Of any killer that could get an Iron Maiden cosmetic, Dead by Daylight's Legion seems like a natural option. For one thing, they already have a rock/metal theme going with their menu and chase themes in-game that only gets better with their mixtape add-ons. They also have a generally edgy vibe thanks to their design and backstory. The Legion even has a perk called Iron Maiden, which would make the connection even more fitting. Out of all the killers, The Legion seems like they would have been the best suited for Iron Maiden skins, making their exclusion from the proceedings somewhat head-scratching.

Some Iron Maiden Hoodies Would Have Been Ideal For The Legion

The Legion would even have been eligible for an overall contender for the best killer outfits in Dead by Daylight. Since The Legion are about the size of an average Survivor and wear pretty normal jackets and hoodies in their base outfits, there was a perfect opportunity to give them Iron Maiden hoodies. Not only would they be a good fit considering their usual designs, the members of The Legion feel like they would jump at the chance for some Iron Maiden merch. A set of Iron Maiden hoodies for the Legion would have been an excellent choice, but instead they walked away empty-handed.

The Iron Maiden collaboration was a great move on Behavior's part, but it missed out on what could have been one of Dead by Daylight's best ideas. The Legion could have really thrived with Iron Maiden outfits on their own. Not only are they popular Killers, but the collaboration would have been a perfect fit for them. Dead by Daylight's Iron Maiden collaboration brought about a lot of fun new cosmetics that are well worth the players' attention. Unfortunately, the Dead by Daylight team didn't deliver the same for The Legion.
