As part of its first developer update of the new year, Dead by Daylight has announced an overhaul of the Eyrie of Crows map. This comes following a large amount of complaints regarding the map being made in a recent Dead by Daylight community survey. With Dead by Daylight having recently reached a total of 40 playable maps, it comes as no surprise that some favor one side of the asymmetrical title more than the other. While this is to be expected, in the past some maps have been so incredibly one-sided that they were entirely redesigned. Such was the case with Gideon Meat Plant, which went from being a killer's heaven to arguably the best survivor map in the game following a rework. Now, following complaints that one particular map leaned too heavily in favor of survivors, another rework is coming as part of an upcoming update that will also be nerfing the strongest killer in Dead by Daylight.RELATED: Dead by Daylight Players Think Cryptic Tweet Is a TeaserThe map in question is the Eyrie of Crows, which was added to the game in November 2021 as part of a chapter that introduced a largely disliked killer The Artist. Bright, open, and massive, the map allows survivors to see the killer coming from a mile away and makes it incredibly difficult for killers such as the Trapper and Hag to effectively hide their traps, due to the entire map being covered in a layer of sand. Upon looking at statistics collected from games played on the Eyrie following a notable amount of complaints in the most recent official community survey, the team behind Dead by Daylight decided that they would rework the map as part of their ongoing efforts to fix the unhealthy Dead by Daylight meta.

The update to Dead by Daylight's Eyrie of Crows map, which is currently playable on the game's Public Test Build, cuts down on a lot of the map's overall area by reshaping it from a long rectangle to a square. Tile generation has also been altered so that strong tiles no longer spawn close to the main building, making it harder for survivors to chain tiles in order to preserve pallets. Thirdly, a set of never-before-seen tiles have been added to the map, and foliage has been added to several preexisting tiles in order to give trap-based killers options.

The changes to the Eyrie of Crows will be a welcome addition to the game and make the map a lot more manageable for certain killers, though it remains unlikely that trap and stealth-based killers will ever have the highest kill rates in Dead by Daylight when it comes to the Eyrie due to its bright color palette and open landscape.

Dead by Daylight is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
