Alan Wake 2, Dead by Daylight Devs Explain Why Alan is a Perfect Fit for a New Survivor

Alan Wake joins Dead by Daylight's roster of survivors on January 30, and developers of both games think the crossover is a natural fit.

Following the collaboration's announcement earlier this month, Behaviour Interactive has officially added Alan Wake as Dead by Daylight's newest DLC Survivor. Explained in-universe as Alan Wake being sucked into a story he wrote, his "Champion of Light" perk grants him additional speed while shining a flashlight and slows Killers when blinding them. The "Boon: Illumination" perk allows Alan to create totems revealing generators and chests to allies, while his "Deadline" perk improves skill checks for healing other Survivors or repairing generators.

Dead by Daylight's newest crossover comes as Behaviour Interactive is set to add a new limited-time modifier alongside the collaboration. The "Lights Out" modifier provides an added challenge for Survivor players, making the in-game visuals significantly darker. Behaviour Interactive had previously gauged fan interest in different game modes, with the "Disgustingly Scary" mode as one proposal including darker and thicker fog. Alan Wake joining Dead by Daylight is a testament to the massive success of one of 2023's hottest games.
