6 Deception

Deception Cropped

Lockers are essential to any round in Dead by Daylight, and utilizing them will boost a survivor's chances of escaping a chase. Deception allows players to utilize lockers differently by feinting near the locker and causing killers to believe that a survivor is inside a locker.

Deception only works if players stay out of the killer's direct line of sight. Otherwise, it will be evident that the trick was a fake. Deception causes the locker doors to swing open when players interact with them while sprinting, and players gain 3 seconds where they leave no scratch marks or pools of blood.

The locker doors will give a noise notification to fool the killer. Players can fool the killer by using this perk once, then actually use the locker, leading to the killer believing it is a fake.

5 Power Struggle

Power Struggle Cropped

This perk requires two others to shine but will spice up how players deal with being down. Once picked up by the killer, Power Struggle allows survivors to knock down nearby pallets and stun the killer, allowing them to escape. Tier 3 Power Struggle requires players to reach 15% of the wiggle bar to activate.

Alone, this perk has low chances of working, but paired with Flip Flop and Tenacity players have a real chance of escaping. Flip Flop converts 50% of the healing progress when downed into the wiggle bar, while Tenacity increases crawl speed and makes it possible to crawl while healing. Getting downed near a pallet with those two perks will give killers a headache and a lot of fun for the survivor.

4 Diversion

Killers in Dead by Daylight are armed with many lethal weapons, while survivors have maps, keys, toolboxes, and med-kits, but a pebble may be a survivor's new favorite toy. Adam Francis's Diversion perk provides survivors with a pebble they can throw that distracts killers as it creates a noise notification and false scratch marks.

The perk requires survivors to enter the killer's terror radius for 30 seconds on Tier 3 to charge. The pebble is flung a distance of 20 meters and will distract the killer. The perk works best when paired with looping tips as it can cause a killer to look the other way and give survivors a chance to break away from a chase. Survivors will have a hard time tricking experienced killers, but with good timing, this perk should not be overlooked.

3 Blast Mine

Some Survivors in Dead By Daylight have specific advantages, meaning players should strive to unlock them first.

To activate the perk, survivors need to repair a generator for 50%, and they can trap it with a flashbang. The trap lasts for 120 seconds on Tier 3. The secret to this perk is avoiding being spotted by the killer and leaving scratch marks. Using Self Aware is fast to get out of the way and leaves behind no scratch marks.

When a killer sees a generator with over 50% progress and no evidence of a survivor, they will probably kick it and stun themselves. Players can use this time window to create distance and evacuate the area.

2 Lucky Break

Lucky Break works passively and offers the best chance of escaping a chase from the best killers in Dead by Daylight. The perk is activated when a survivor enters the injured state.

Combining Lucky Break with Iron Will gives players a major advantage during their first chase as the removed scratch marks greatly increase their chances of escape. Lucky Break will pause its 60-second countdown once a player enters the healthy state.

Lucky Break recovers 1 second for each second the player spends healing another survivor. This limit is capped at 60 seconds. Iron will make pain grunts quieter and harder for killers to track, helping players mask their presence.
