Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical horror game that is available for players on many different platforms. Now the killers and survivors from these different platforms can play together thanks to full cross-play being implemented for PC and consoles.

The full implementation of Dead by Daylight's cross-play means that players on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch can play side by side. The only exception to cross-play is the mobile version of Dead by Daylight.

Because of the new cross-play addition, players can now create an in-game friends lists so that they can party up with those on other platforms. This addition also likely means that updates will happen for all platforms at the same time instead of certain platforms taking higher priority than others.

With the Nintendo Switch being part of the cross-play, some players have noted that it doesn't have all of the killer and survivor DLC content that is available on other platforms as of yet. It is however confirmed that Switch players will be able to play with people who have this DLC, such as the Nightmare on Elm Street DLC, but won't be able to use it themselves. This may be controversial for those who feel as if they're locked out of certain perks and abilities while others have full access.

Players that don't want to play alongside or against players from other platforms can additionally go into Dead by Daylight's option menu and disable cross-play. However, this would likely increase queue times due to there being less players in the pool to interact with. There is no option to choose what platforms to play with, only if cross-play is on or off.

Considering the Rift is currently active in Dead by Daylight offering difficult challenges for killers and survivors alike, some players will need the help from all sorts of places. Players who previously couldn't play with friends due to platform differences can now offer their help to get through these tough challenges.

When in a Dead by Daylight lobby, players will be able to tell if another player is from a different platform if a little globe icon is next to their name. There are no real benefits or bonuses from playing with players from a different platform, but it's still a nice notice for players to have. When it releases for Stadia, it will likely have cross-play as well.

Dead by Daylight is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. It will release on Stadia in September.
