Bill Overbeck is something of a legend in horror gaming circles. This Vietnam vet started out as one of the four playable human characters in the first Left 4 Dead game, where he eventually died sacrificing himself to save his teammates--only to end up trapped in a new nightmare in the asymmetric horror game Dead by Daylight. In fact, Dead by Daylight just released a new update focused on Bill, so it seems very fitting that a fan just released pictures of a stunning Bill cosplay.

Twitch affiliate, streamer, and cosplayer Ollie Odinson Cosplay--@SLCGA on Twitter--has pieced together a fantastic cosplay for this grizzled survivor. While Dead by Daylight's Survivors, original and crossover characters alike, tend to have rather subdued outfits one could imagine seeing people wear around town, the combat fatigues, military caps, game props, and sheer amount of blood splashed on top make his interpretation of Bill stand out.

Ollie Odinson Cosplay has posted a number of chilling Dead by Daylight photoshoots to his Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook pages showing off the different layers to his outfit, some increasingly uncanny lighting, and a lot of fake blood splatter. The result is equal parts bittersweet reunion with a beloved character and sorrowful acceptance of his horrific circumstances. Ollie Odinson Cosplay has captured Bill's worn-down, cynical personality while still showing off the vicious tenacity that made Bill so memorable to begin with.

More recently, Ollie Odinson Cosplay also uploaded a short video showing himself imitating Bill's idle animations during the character select screen, complete with toolbox and medkit popping into existence as the player considers their options. The background music adds a sense of uncertainty and unease to the proceedings. No content from the Crypt TV crossover collection was included.

Another striking shot depicts Bill emerging from a grimy staircase strewn with fallen leaves, his eyes narrowed and a snarl on his face. A large crow prop is perched on the railing, watching. There is no escape from the black-feathered eyes of the Entity, but he's doing his best to spook the otherworldly bird off--and all without losing his grip on his medkit or the cigarette clamped between his teeth.

Finally, Ollie Odinson Cosplay posted this photo of himself crouching over a Hex Totem, running his hands tentatively over the skulls. The caption wonders if the Hex is Haunted Ground or Ruin. Dead by Daylight players can definitely sympathize with his dilemma. Dismantling a Ruin Hex Totem increases the odds of survival while dismantling a Haunted Ground Hex Totem will leave all Survivors exposed for up to 60 seconds.

Ollie Odinson Cosplay has expressed his intent to update his cosplay wardrobe with any new Bill skins that arrive. Time will tell if the devs are willing to give him more material to work with, though signs point to yes. With a Resident Evil crossover coming up in June, Dead by Daylight is looking forward to a bright future, even as things look grimmer than ever for its cast.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
