One of the most important things to do when beginning Dead by Daylight is to ensure that each character has access to the best Unique Perks possible. Unique Perks are Perks that are specifically attached to a certain Killer. Once this Killer has achieved a prestige rank, these perks become available on the rest of the roster of the Dead by Daylight killers.

It's very important to unlock Killers that will help provide good Perks for all the other Killers. Each Perk has a different purpose, whether that's for slowing down the Survivors' actions, tracking, chasing, or general utility. However, some Killers feature much better Teachable Perks than others, and these should be prioritized by Dead by Daylight players.

5 The Trickster

The Trickster comes with one of the strongest Perk sets in Dead by Daylight. No Way Out stands out in particular and is an excellent perk for gaining pressure during the endgame. Survivors will be unable to open the gates for a set period, leaving them with very little to do. This perk pairs well with Hex: No One Escapes Death, which allows the Killer to instantly down Survivors with their basic attack once all the Generators have been completed. If played right, the Killer can secure a few extra kills.

Another great Perk that The Trickster comes with is Starstruck. Starstruck makes it so that Survivors will be unable to take hits or body block whilst the Killer is carrying another Survivor to a hook, and it will often scare them away from the area for a little while.

4 The Plague

The Plague comes with one of the best slowdown Perks in Dead by Daylight, and it can be used effectively on almost all the other Killers. This perk is a Corrupt Intervention. Corrupt Intervention will block the 3 furthest Generators from where the Killers spawn for 120 seconds. This gives the Killer plenty of time to hunt down Survivors or set up their game plan before the perk deactivates. Corrupt Intervention helps to prevent Generators from being immediately touched without the Killer being able to do much to stop it. It's an excellent perk for beginners who struggle to apply pressure in the early game.

Another advantage, The Plague also comes with a more situational, but still powerful, Perk, Infectious Fright. When a Survivor is downed by the Killer, any other Survivors in the Killer's Terror Radius will scream and reveal their location to the Killer for 6 seconds. This perk is better suited to Killers who can achieve a fast down, such as The Oni and The Cannibal.

3 The Legion

The Legion is one of the most simple Killers in Dead by Daylight and is excellent for beginners to get to grips with. They're incredibly easy to pick up and have some excellent perks to add to the player's collection. The Legion's power allows them to injure multiple Survivors very easily and offers some very fast-paced gameplay.

One of The Legion's Unique Perks is particularly great to have unlocked, and that's Discordance. This perk will alert the Killer whenever multiple Survivors are working on the same Generator together, which makes it much easier to prevent them from rushing through Generators. This perk is better suited for Killers who benefit from finding multiple Survivors at a time, including The Legion themselves.

2 The Cenobite

The Cenobite comes with an impressive collection of Unique Perks in Dead by Daylight. In particular, Deadlock and Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain really shine. Deadlock slows down Generator repairs. When a Generator is complete, the Generator with the most progress will be blocked for 30 seconds, giving the Killer time to prevent it from being finished.

Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain helps to slow down healing and repair speeds. Whenever a Survivor is unhooked from a Scourge Hook, they will suffer from the Mangled and Haemorrhage status effects until they're healed. Once they've been healed, they'll suffer from a 16% speed penalty for their healing and repairs. This will continue until they are injured again.

1 The Clown

The Clown has a rather impressive arsenal of Unique Perks at his disposal and is one of the best Killers for beginners to unlock in Dead by Daylight. One of The Clown's best Unique Perks is Bamboozle. This Perk will temporarily block any window the Killer vaults through, making it easy to shut down any nasty loops the Survivor has taken them to. Bamboozle is particularly helpful for Killers who are incredibly aggressive, such as The Hillbilly, The Shape, and The Cannibal.

Another strong Perk that The Clown comes with is Pop Goes The Weasel. This Perk activates after the Killer has hooked a Survivor. For the next 45 seconds, if they kick a Generator, it will lose 30% of its current progression and begin regressing normally. This is an incredibly powerful and easy way to put pressure on the Survivors, and it can be used up to 12 times in each match. Pop Goes The Weasel is more helpful on Killers with high mobility, as they can reach Generators much easier to activate the Perk.

Dead by Daylight is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
