Throwing hatchets, teleporting, electrocuting survivors, and phasing are only a few of the deadly powers brought to bear by killers in Dead by Daylight. Some of these may seem potent enough by themselves, but the game offers a robust selection of add-ons that modify and enhance these powers.

Not all add-ons are created equal, however. While some have almost no effect on the way that a killer performs, others are transformative, either radically altering or strengthening the killer's power. Such add-ons leave a trail of bodies and disconnections in their wake, as survivors scramble to cope with a threat that now seems all but insurmountable.

10 Mint Rag (The Hag)

A closeup of The Hag from Dead By Daylight

A set-up killer who uses Phantasm Traps to teleport around the map, striking survivors that stray too far into her web, the Hag is one of Dead by Daylight's strongest killers. Ordinarily, she can jump from one trap to the next almost instantly, but only if those traps are within range.

Mint Rag places the Hag's ability to teleport on a long cooldown in exchange for allowing her to use her ability to teleport to any trap on the entire map. This trade-off makes the Hag an omnipresent threat, capable of appearing in the basement one second, and across the map in a second-story house the next.

9 Fragrant Tuft Of Hair (Michael Myers)

Michael Myers, the Shape, is a stealth killer, relying on his ability to stalk survivors unnoticed in order to advance in tiers. In Tier Three, the Shape has a longer lunge, moves through windows faster, and can put survivors into the dying state with a single stab. After 60 seconds, the power ends, and he reverts to Tier Two, beginning the stalking process anew.

Fragrant Tuft of Hair drastically increases the amount of stalking that the Shape must do to Tier up, but once he reaches Tier Three, he remains at it for the remainder of the Trial. "Infinite Myers," as this version of the character is affectionately known, has massive potential to snowball, downing one survivor after another in quick succession without ever reverting to his weakened state.

8 Iridescent Head (The Huntress)

Some add-ons are more appreciated than others, and the Huntress's Iridescent Head is known to make some survivors quit the match as soon as it is revealed. The Huntress's must normally hit survivors with two throwing hatchets in order to down them. With the Iridescent Head, a single hatchet puts survivors into the dying state. In exchange, she can only carry one at a time, and must therefore reload frequently.

The Huntress is well known for her cross-map pressure, sniping survivors from afar with a perfectly timed toss. Iridescent Head gives a good Huntress player the ability to drop a healthy survivor from all the way across the map.

7 Iridescent Photocard (The Trickster)

Like Huntress, the Trickster is a ranged killer, albeit a K-Pop-inspired one with a penchant for throwing knives. The Iridescent Photocard inflicts the Exposed status effect on survivors, allowing Trickster to down them with a single volley of knives instead of having to first injure them.

When catching survivors in the open, the Trickster becomes as lethal an insta-down killer like the Cannibal and Hillbilly. Unlike other insta-down add-ons, the Iridescent Photocard can be hard to see coming, letting the Trickster hide his trump card until the most opportune moment. Against survivors who are forced to open an exit gate or cleanse a totem in front of him, the Trickster becomes a lethal machine.

6 Black Incense (The Plague)

The Plague With Her Censer - Dead By Daylight Plague Guide

The Plague's Black Incense reveals the auras of fully infected survivors whenever they cough, granting Plague almost unrivaled tracking abilities. Able to keep an eye on survivors across the map, the Plague can bring the fight to those most vulnerable as well as keep an eye on vital objects such as generators and totems.

Perhaps even more deadly, Black Incense allows the Plague to shut down chases early by making it all but impossible for survivors to mind-game her. Since most survivors try to deny the Plague her Corrupt Purge ability by not cleansing, Black Incense can feed crucial information to Plague for the entire Trial.

5 Iridescent Button (Legion)

Featured - Dead By Daylight Legion Tips

Iridescent Button, an add-on for the four young killers collective known as the Legion, causes the Legion's terror radius to cover the entire map during Feral Frenzy. By itself, this effect wouldn't do much except trick distant survivors into thinking the Legion is upon them. When the Legion in Feral Frenzy strikes a survivor, however, the location of every other survivor on the map is revealed.

The Iridescent Button's second effect causes the Legion to immediately break any pallet that they vault while in Feral Frenzy, saving the killer time and depriving survivors of needed resources. With these effects combined, the Legion is even more effective than they already were at injuring everyone on the map.

4 Redhead's Pinky Finger (The Clown)

Dead By Daylight The Clown

The Clown is normally one of the weakest killers in the game, but with Redhead's Pinky Finger, he is far more lethal. The Clown's bottles of purple gas normally slow and disorient survivors. With Redhead's Pinky Finger, any survivor who takes a direct hit from the bottle is Exposed for the duration of the gas's effect.

This allows the Clown to steamroll through unsuspecting survivors, wading through clouds of toxic fumes to drop his prey to the ground with a single slash. Of all the add-ons, few increase a killer's lethality more than this one.

3 Engineer's Fang (Pinhead)

Pinhead in Dead by Daylight

The Cenobite, better known as Pinhead, uses the puzzle box known as the Lament Configuration and the possessed chains that he summons to slow survivors down. This allows him to draw near enough to injure them.

With Engineer's Fang in play, possessed chains no longer slow healthy survivors but instead injure them. The Cenobite can summon the portal from which the chain emerges even through walls and on different floors, allowing the killer to injure survivors who would, in any other circumstance be safe. Engineer's Fang is so strong it makes one thankful that the Cenobite's skill ceiling is so high, lest a horde of similarly equipped Cenobites run rampant.

2 Mother-Daughter Ring (The Spirit)

Dead by Daylight Spirit shattered glass promo image

When the Spirit uses her phase-walk, both she and the survivors disappear and the Spirit becomes far faster, allowing her to down survivors at even the safest loops. Blind to her prey as she is, the Spirit must rely on scratch marks and sounds to find and strike survivors, making her one of the harder killers to master.

Mother-Daughter Ring makes the Spirit blind to scratch marks, but in exchange, she moves at an even more blistering speed. Played correctly, this add-on makes it almost impossible for survivors to avoid the Spirit's attacks, as she hurtles through the ethereal realm only to reappear right beside her victims.

1 Tombstone Piece (Michael Myers)

dead-by-daylight-halloween-michael-myers-trailer

Despite being a Very Rare rather than Ultra Rare add-on, the Shape's Tombstone Piece is unrivaled in its lethality. It increases the amount of stalking that Michael Myers must do in order to reach Evil Within Three, but in exchange it allows the Shape to instantly kill any survivor he catches, even if they have never been hooked.

Killing a survivor in this way resets Myers to Evil Within Two, a flaw not shared by the Ultra Rare Judith's Tombstone. However, the power of Judith's Tombstone takes even longer to achieve and reduces the Shape's movement speed, making the Tombstone Piece superior. Nothing makes Dead by Daylight feel more like a horror game than the approach of a Myers who can kill with a single touch.

Dead By Daylight was released in June 2016 and is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and Stadia.
