Dead by Daylight is home to a host of incredible female representation. Each character has their own stories that are incredibly rich, diverse and developed. Many of the character's backstories focus on important issues, such as misrepresentation and isolation. Whilst all of the characters have interesting backstories, some of them particularly stand out from the others.

Some of these characters have had their lore expanded through the in-game Rift, which provides some additional stories on certain characters. This can be unlocked by completing certain challenges. Based on their lore, here are some of the best female characters in Dead by Daylight.

8 Thalita Lyra

Dead by Daylight Thalita Lore

Thalita embodies the spirit of staying true to yourself. All she ever wanted was to bring people together. Growing up, alongside her little brother, Renato, she built a community around kite-fighting. She began teaching people how to kite-fight, and would post clips online. These videos gained plenty of publicity, and eventually attracted the attention of a modelling agency. Thalita jumped at the opportunity to become famous, and thought she could find her way into acting.

Unfortunately, this meant she had to give up working at the kite shop. She ended up burned out, and her life wasn't as glamorous as she had hoped. After some late-night talks with Renato, she realized she was missing connection. Real, genuine connections with people. Shortly after, she quit modeling and opened her own kite shop. Here, she was able to attract even more people and host kite-fighting tournaments. This is what she had been searching for.

7 Jane Romero

Dead by Daylight Jane Lore

Jane's story highlights a serious problem with the film and television industry. As a struggling actor, Jane is repeatedly only offered roles as the 'Spicy Latina', waitress with the accent, or simply just the funny immigrant - nothing beyond ridiculous stereotypes. After finally securing a role that doesn't perpetrate harmful stereotypes, Jane excitedly shows up to her rehearsal. It's here her world comes tumbling down - the director tells her the character would work better with an accent, because it would add comic relief. Outraged, she storms off, eager to not be a sell-out.

Jane later becomes the star of her own talk show, highlighting important issues and taboo topics, such as abandonment. She built her career around honesty and authenticity, and is unapologetically herself. Jane is an incredibly strong individual, and remains true to her values, even in the most testing times.

6 Feng Min

Dead by Daylight Feng Min Lore

Feng Min is a fan-favorite among Dead by Daylight fans. As a lifelong gamer, and an e-sports athlete, she's one of the most relatable characters in the game. Despite her parents' disapproval, Feng Min saw potential in gaming, and climbed her way to the top. Unfortunately, in her efforts to prove she was the best, she started to neglect her needs.

Sleep became less important, and she started pushing herself too hard. As a result, she started to lose, and began tormenting herself. To forget about her failures, she began to wander from bar to bar, and would often wake up in places she didn't know. However, one day, she woke up and found herself in The Entity's realm. This was her chance to prove herself.

5 Zarina Kassir

Daed by Daylight Zarina Lore

Zarina's story highlights the difficulty of fitting in with two different cultural identities. Coming from a Lebanese household, but growing up in Brooklyn, Zarina felt she had a target on her back, and would try everything she could to avoid being bullied. At school, she would go by the name 'Karina', and would throw away her 'foreign' lunches in an attempt to fit in.

By the time she was a teenager, she decided to embrace her roots, and was inspired to report stories of injustice. She tried undercover operations, and eventually became a filmmaker. After her father was unfortunately murdered, she hunted down the man responsible and made a documentary about him, highlighting his confession to his crimes. Her investigations eventually lead her to the realm of The Entity, where she now resides in an endless game of cat and mouse.

4 Claudette Morel

Dead by Daylight Claudette Lore

Claudette is a shy but compassionate botanist. From a young age, Claudette felt like she struggled to fit in. The other kids didn't understand her and her teachers would berate her. She much preferred the company of plants and insects.

Claudette's story follows the idea that there's no such thing as an 'ideal student' - just because someone doesn't fit society's expectations, it doesn't mean that they don't have their own unique talents and strengths. Claudette is a reminder that people need to stay true to themselves.

3 Yui Kimura

Dead by Daylight Yui Lore

Yui is a street racer, and a member of the Sakura 7 motorbike gang. Yui has faced several hardships, including a terrifying confrontation with a stalker, resulting in a fight between the two of them breaking out in her apartment. Yui broke her arm in the incident, and the Sakura 7 offered her all of their support.

From then on, they all wore pink hachimakis to show their kinship, and raise awareness for women who need help dealing with abusers and stalkers. Yui is an incredibly strong woman, and became the youngest woman to win the All-Japan Moto Championship, refusing to let her past hold her back.

2 Elodie Rakoto

Dead by Daylight Elodie Lore

Elodie has a unique connection to The Entity - she is a member of the Pariahs, alongside one of the other Survivors in Dead by Daylight, Felix Richter. The Pariahs were the children of the Imperatti, a group who tried to fight The Entity and The Black Vale. Unfortunately, the Imperatti mysteriously disappeared, which lead Elodie on a quest to investigate the reason behind her parents' disappearance.

Whilst on this quest, she eventually ended up in a confrontation with The Black Vale themselves. This didn't end well for Elodie, and she was left for dead. However, she suffered a far worse fate, and was taken by The Entity. Luckily, this is exactly what she had been looking for.

1 Haddie Kaur

Dead by Daylight Haddie Lore

Haddie has one of the most fleshed-out backstories in Dead by Daylight, and was heavily teased before she was even added to the game. Haddie is a paranormal investigator with her own podcast, and has the ability to see Overlaps between realities. She's plagued with terrible visions, and works to expose the notorious cult, The Black Vale.

Haddie is one of the most powerful Survivors in the Dead by Daylight lore, having battled various monsters before she was taken away by The Entity. This means she's more than well-equipped to take on whatever she comes face to face with throughout her Trials in The Fog. With such an in-depth history, Haddie is undoubtedly one of the most interesting Survivors in the game.
