Dead by Daylight: Best Builds for The Unknown

The All Things Wicked Chapter for Dead by Daylight brings The Unknown into the fog – a terrifying amalgamation of urban legends, hell-bent on luring Survivors to their doom. By slinging deathly bulbs of explosive energy through their Ultra Venom X (UVX) power, those caught in the blast radius will become weakened and, eventually, injured.

Requiring map knowledge and a mind for trigonometry, The Unknown is a difficult Killer to learn. Thankfully, the following perks and add-ons will help players strengthen the weaker aspects of their abilities in Dead by Daylight. These builds include the perks available to all Killers, as well as those limited to players who only own All Things Wicked.

The Unknown: Best Non-Teachable Build (2024)

For players without access to other Dead by Daylight DLC Killers, this build focuses on slowing healing with each basic attack using Sloppy Butcher. Meanwhile, kicking generators obscures your Terror Radius, allowing for more effective sneak attacks. Bitter Murmur and Hex: No One Escapes Death also pair nicely by revealing Survivors’ auras with each generator completed and exposing them in the endgame.

Unforeseen (The Unknown): After damaging a generator, your Terror Radius is transferred to that generator for 30 seconds, while you are Undetectable. This perk can be used once every 30 seconds.
Sloppy Butcher (General Perk): Basic attacks cause the Mangled and Hemorrhage status ailments for 90 seconds, slowing down healing by 25% and regressing healing progress when left unfinished.
Bitter Murmur (General Perk): Each time a generator is completed, the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of that generator are revealed for 5 seconds. Once the last generator is complete, all Survivors’ auras are revealed for 10 seconds.
Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk): After the final generator is completed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment. You gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.

The Unknown: Best Build (2024)

Arguably the best assortment of Killer perks to run on The Unknown includes Discordance, Corrupt Intervention, Pop Goes the Weasel, and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance. Discordance allows The Unknown to track the generators being worked on, exposing multiple Survivors to being Weakened by their UVX power. The other three perks go a long way towards slowing the progress of generators.

Corrupt Intervention (The Plague): At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first survivor is downed.
Discordance (The Legion): Any generators within 128 meters that are being worked on by two or more survivors will be highlighted in yellow.
Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown): For 45 seconds after hooking a Survivor, damaging a generator will remove 30% of its current progress.
Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist): The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 25% of progress.

The Unknown: Best Add-Ons

Blurry Photo

Starting with the Common Add-Ons, The Unknown’s Blurry Photo allows them to regain full movement speed 50% faster after teleporting. This gives the Killer more time to catch up to nearby Survivors.

Victims Map

While the Victims Map Add-On is nothing extraordinary, being able to get aura reading on Survivors who cleanse their weakened status effect can help anticipate their movements at loops.

Vanishing Box

This powerful Add-On weakens Survivor completing generators, opening them up to being injured by The Unknown’s UVX power.

Front Page Article

Spawning Hallucinations is a key part of The Unknown’s map control in Dead by Daylight. Having the Front Page Article equipped helps tremendously with quickly traversing the realms. This Add-On decreases Hallucination spawn time by 50% when you break a pallet or wall.

Footprint Cast

Similar to the Front Page Article, this Add-On increases Hallucination spawn time. When a Survivor becomes Weakened by UVX, the spawn time decreases by 15 seconds.

B-Movie Poster

Helping to prevent Survivors from quickly resetting with their best healing builds, those damaged by The Unknown’s UVX suffer from the Broken status ailment for 30 seconds.

Obscure Game Cartridge

The best of The Unknown’s Very Rare Add-Ons, the Obscure Game Cartridge allows the Killer to quickly rip through Survivors’ resources by speeding break actions by 30% for 20 seconds after teleporting.

Captured by the Dark

This powerful Ultra Rare Add-On makes all Survivors start the trial Weakened, at the cost of decreasing the maximum number of Hallucinations. This increases The Unknown’s early game pressure by opening Survivors up to being injured by UVX immediately.
