A tricky Killer to master, like many others, the key to a successful Knight game in Dead By Daylight is equipping powerful perks that complement his abilities.

This guide will show players the best builds to use on the Knight, showcasing the best perks that synergize with his abilities. The following builds use both teachable and non-teachable perks, covering both players with and without access to the large roster of other Killers in Dead By Daylight.

Dead by Daylight is a constantly evolving asymmetrical horror game. With new content and significant updates always on the horizon, the best builds and most optimal perks are regularly changing. This update aims to keep this guide up-to-date with the best perks and Add-Ons to use with The Knight in 2024.

Dead By Daylight: Best Builds for The Onryo

This guide will walk players through the best teachable and non-teachable perks to run on The Onryo in Dead By Daylight.

The Knight: Best Non-Teachable Build

For players just starting out in Dead By Daylight who don’t have access to many of the DLC Killers in Dead By Daylight, this build uses only perks that come with the Knight and the base game. This means that players needn’t dish out cash for the pricey perks that come with certain Killers. This build is focused on finding Survivors near bashed-in generators and keeping them injured while maintaining pressure on health states until the endgame.

Nowhere to Hide (The Knight): Kicking a generator will reveal the aura of all Survivors within 24 meters for 5 seconds.
Hex: Face the Darkness (The Knight): As long as this Hex Totem stands, whenever at least one Survivor is injured, all Survivors outside the Terror Radius scream and reveal their locations every 25 seconds.
Sloppy Butcher (General Killer Perk): Basic attacks cause the Mangled and Hemorrhage status ailments, slowing down healing by 25% and regressing healing progress when left unfinished.
Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk): After the final generator is completed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment, and users gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.

The Knight: Best Build

For the more experienced players, this build incorporates perks only obtainable by purchasing other Killers or finding them in the Shrine of Secrets. Like with the previous build, these perks revolve around using The Knight's power to build speed in the chase and control the map with ruthless regression perks.

Corrupt Intervention (The Plague): At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first survivor is downed.
Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist): The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 25% of progress.
Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown): After hooking a Survivor, kicking a generator in the next 45 seconds will remove 30% of its current progression.
Save The Best for Last (The Shape): For every basic attack dealt to survivors who aren't the Obsession, gain a 5% decreased attack cooldown, up to a maximum of 40%.

The Knight: Best Add-Ons

Map of the Realm

Only a Common Guarida Compagnia Add-On, and yet perhaps The Knight’s most effective, the Map of the Realm increases the detection range for Guards by 4 meters. More than this, however, it reaches this larger radius at a faster speed. This means that even Survivors who predict your Guard pathing will struggle to escape detection, making your power much more oppressive. Many consider this Add-On a requirement for playing The Knight.

Pillaged Mead

Though somewhat nerfed, the Pillaged Mead Add-On is still a strong contender, decreasing Guard break action Order times by 15%. This means they will break pallets, generators, and doors 15% faster, and you will get your power back sooner.

Treated Blade

Onto the Uncommon Add-Ons, the Treated Blade allows The Knight to summon The Assassin twice in a row. Since The Assassin is the fastest chaser of the Guards, this is particularly beneficial in pursuit of Survivors.

Battleaxe Head

Similar to the Treated Blade, the Battleaxe Head Add-On allows The Knight to summon The Carnifex twice in a row. The Carnifex is the strongest Guard of the group, performing break actions faster and chasing Survivors for longer, making this Add-On equally efficient.

Grim Iron Mask

Aura perks like Windows of Opportunity are some of the most commonly used by Survivors. The Grim Iron mask makes Survivors Detected by Guards suffer from the Blindness status ailment for 60 seconds, denying them the ability to rely on those aura reading perks.

Broken Hilt

For those looking to slow down healing speeds, the Broken Hilt inflicts the Mangled status for 70 seconds on any Survivor hit by a Guard. This reduces healing speeds by 25%.

Healing Poultice

This Add-On makes all Survivors nearby scream whenever The Knight summons The Assassin. This can be useful for interrupting actions – like cleansing Hex totems – and revealing locations.

Knight’s Contract

A powerful Ultra Rare Add-On, this causes Survivors within 12 meters to become Exposed for 8 seconds, for every fourth Guard summoned. This works well at weaker loops, where The Knight can use a Guard to break a pallet and zone a Survivor into a weaker area.

A staple of endgame builds on The Knight, the Iridescent Company Banner blocks vault locations when passed through with a Patrol Path or vaulted by a Hunted Survivor. More importantly, it prevents Survivors Hunted by Guards from leaving through the exit gates, acting like a pseudo-Blood Warden. This makes Survivors extremely vulnerable to powerful endgame perks like Hex: No One Escapes Death.
